I'm familiar with the Quarry family and the two better boxers from that family Jerry & Mike. Mike was a very good light-heavy. Their gym sparring sessions together were brutal, been told. A bit before my time to witness live, but had contact with their family members growing up and some old film clips.
Jerry would be an outstanding cruiser (200lb limit) weight today. Mike was a true light-heavy weight. Jerry fought the best of his era..never backing down for anything. Maybe too tough for his own good...taking a bit too much to give in return. Just didn't have the frame or height size (don't know for sure but been told around 5'10-5'11) with regards to today's heavy and super weights. If you judged his courage, it would be off the charts.
Jerry had to have health care 24/7 and was living somewhere around Hemet,Ca. His mental state was pretty bad, as was his physical state. Mike also have physical and mental troubles and died a few years before Jerry.
Ruiz jr, a tough and smart boxer, taking his time and picking his spots. And with quick hands. After the third round, Joshua seemed to have lost his purpose of being there. If rematch, thinking Joshua in 12 or sooner. Ruiz jr said he's going to slim down and look like a boxer. Which might be a mistake on his part. Lot of boxers will dothat, and never be the boxer they once were...just have to see.
