If not shopped, this is absolutely insane.

However, his back was pretty bad

A good example of lazy ass training and subpar diet

Elite genetics and exceptional drug response

His structure similar to Nasser made it difficult for him to bring his back up.

Genetic freak, he took less than half of what Flex did and ate one meal a day, his response was unbelievable.

But no matter what angle they tried they just couldn't get those lats to respond, the structure arms and rear delts just wouldn't allow it.

So he could near 300 lbs on one meal a day?

It also looks like he was trying to squeeze his back together and closing it up rather than stretching his shoulders as wide as they could go and opening his back up and flexing. If he were better at hitting that pose then it wouldn’t look like he had no back...

If his lats and rear delts were like the rest of him and he could come in shape every contest there would be a different conversation about best ever.

his rear delts are huge, in fact his delts are so huge it makes his weak back even weaker

Just think how good he could have been if he followed training advices from Getbiggers.

Yes. One of the largest men to ever walk the planet could really benefit from getbigs bbing experts. If only we had a time machine.

Branch warren had insane work ethic.

Looked like shit.

It’s all drugs, food, genetics, and basic muscle stimulation. I thought we were past this.

Exactly.

I've seen how Ronnie used to train.

And a strong argument can be made that Dorian may have been the most serious, most intense, most militant bodybuilder of all time.

He could maintain it, his biggest issue was his lack of appetite, I'm sure he would have ate more over the years, but once he was pro in venice he didn't eat much usually just once a day with a few shakes.

Spot on. He has plenty of muscle on his back as he has EVERYWHERE on his physique. It's the way he posed that didn't do his back justice. The muscle was there.

he was by far the freakiest thing you could ever see walking into Golds in the 90s, and believe me there was some freaks. Trained light to just pumped.

Unbelievable genetics and genetic response.

I saw him work a plate of food at Koo Koo Roo in Costa Mesa in the 90s.  Dude was enormous then.

My bad, if his delts and back were symmetrical to the rest of him.

If there was ever a poster child that defined drugs it was Dillett

He was the face of elite genetics and drugs

I’ve seen him many times and yes, his training was all light and pump sets, no intensity, opposite of a Shawn Ray or Ronnie

Shawn used to make fun of him curling 30’s lol, as he put no effort into them

That's the best picture of his back I have ever seen.

To the guys that have seen him train, it's true he trained for muscular endurance with light to moderate weights? I keep hearing this but nothing is better than an eye witness account.

I watched a video of him training Back with Charles Glass and it was frustrating because he just couldn't seem to get the mind muscle connection with the muscles in his back. Charles was trying to get him to go slow and feel his back contracting and working through the movement but Paul couldn't get it and just powered through every rep, the onus on his delts and arms. I reckon if he could have found a way to feel those muscles properly and then present them on stage he would have deserved to win a Olympia. Every part would have been complete, even great calves and an awesome set of symmetrical abs.

Back, hams and calves on Yates way better than Dillett in that pick.  Dillett probably was too relaxed in that pose and why it looks not even close.  You are right Pellius, he could not pose for shit.

Not really

He just needed 800 pound deadlifts and 500 pounds bent over rows

Problem solved

If his back wasn't so bloated and soft he would have been the greatest bodybuilder of all time. He really needed some heavy back training. Off drugs, wow did he look bad.

The type to only train while using. If he wasnt lazy and actually enjoyed training, his back probably would have turned out better.
