56 here (no saggy loose skin)..was wondering how to avoid it? (I have been 312 lbs before so it’s not caused by “ bulking up”)  is it Genetic?  .. Cardio/ diet related??.. what is the cause and how to avoid it and or fix it if you have it? ..

Mike, you're always looking ready. In my case this is the only thing I can come up with. I'm sure genetics plays a part but I did have a chance to get this corrected without surgery but 6 sessions would have cost me $4k. Wasn't worth it. Hopefully I can find a remedy before I start my prep for next years Nationals.

I think the more weight you have to lose and age has something to do with it the less it will spring back. Even people that aren't into bodybuilding when they lose a lot of fat have loose skin. The younger you are gives you best odds of the skin returning it goes without saying.  If you you're 60 and lose 20 to 30lbs for a contest the skin isn't going to spring back. I speculate  with Wes since he competes at around the weight he is off season his skin isn't expanding and contracting.

One of the many times that I competed in the Masters Nationals, this guy kept asking me how he might tighten up the small amount of loose skin that he had on his lower abs.

I told him I had no clue..........he looked fucking great and won his class that day as well as multiple other times.

I think it`s not that big of a deal unless it`s an exhorbatant amount of skin.

Lots of other guys that compete have it to varying degrees and they do well just like Joe did.

The audience doesn`t see it very well if at all from the seats while you`re onstage and fuck, most of these guys are well over 40 or 50.

If anyone complained,I`d tell them to diet down and hit the stage if they could do better.  LOL  ;D

Strangely enough,I never had a problem with sagging skin.

I believe it`s probably due to the fact that I never went over 15 pounds or so over my contest bodyweight.

Here`s me at 57 years old.....I`m 63 right now and still no sagging.

Geez dude...that's just your walking around condition? :o

Great stuff, very inspirational. 56 is not old but bodybuilding really is the closest to the fountain of youth that we have. Any little gems you can share with us that have helped you over the years?

Thanks!.... two things that really got me in shape (ripped) 1) i was doing crazy miles walking around the mall without even realizing it (someone told me to check the miles I walked on my phone (wasn’t aware it was tracking steps or miles lol) ... in one 9-10 hour shift I was walking 12-15 miles, I actually had to stop all cardio at the gym, because I was getting more than enough at work! 2) Diet! (Once I started eating in the “ off- season” like I did pre-contest (every 3-4 hours... at least 30-35 grams of protein, moderate to low carbs and zero sugar and low fats) I was able to stay in shape all year around ...my diet was crap when I was heavy (fat) .. too many shakes and processed food and if we are being totally honest Tren got me ripped and lean (I don’t touch it now as it was ravaging my face and making me look very old and haggard) these are the only “ secrets “ I can honestly say changed my entire physique!

Best Goddamned Physique at Getbig in my opinion.  I think you hit the right balance of size and symmetry and of course leanness.

Goodmorrow!

I think I can help. I stumbled across an old 1991 magazine that had an interview with Porter Cortrell. He said his after contest diet was as follows:

7am: Oatmeal with non-fat milk, Weider supplements

8am: Train/protein shake sipping slowly throughout workout

10am: 2 rice cakes with almond butter

12pm: Tuna steak with light drizzle vinaigrette.

2pm: Protein Shake/Weider Supplements

3pm: Brisk walk.

6pm: 8oz Ribeye with green beans

8pm: Protein Shake mixed with Weider liquid aminos.

10pm: Supplements.

Porter said that he would try to get at least 10 hours of sleep after a contest for recovery. He also kept his workouts light and quick because he felt that his body was put through the "ringer" as he described.

STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
