Leg training
« on: May 31, 2019, 03:17:59 PM »
I have not trained legs in a while.

I just lost care and since I don’t compete, I have no strong desire to train them.

They stay pretty well conditioned with cardio.

Anyone else ignore leg training?

Sucks.

With that said,I train calves like crazy almost every time I train.I do a lot of cardio up and down hills and I work on ladders allday etc... So my upper legs stay strong and somewhat muscular but they are small and I could not possibly care any less.Big legs never intrigued me and I’m not a bodybuilder so it’s what ever. Also I have bad knees and hips.

To be honest, I just got lazy with training them. ??? ???

I was thinking about training them again, but don’t have enough care.

Legs are important for daily activities like walking.

Train your legs for for functional purposes.

Do a high rep set of body weight squats every other day and it will keep them strong.Simple and not a lot of work.If you are like me and don’t care it’s plenty.

Functional strength is overrated!

I want bodybuilding strength and purpose.

Been doing belt squats since my disc's are shot. Did start light again today on the regular squats while I go on a lower back rehab program.

I miss heavy squatting, but I like walking a lot better...

If you don't train legs you're a lazy no work ethic poser.  Your bodybuilding card is revoked. You should be banned from posting here. Anyone who benches and curls bragging about their bench but doesn't train legs is in violation of the get big by laws.

Actually one of my favorite trainers was actor Brad Harris. He never trained his legs with weights. He supplemented his upper body weight training with distance runs and sprints.  In his later years he added bicycle riding. He was in amazing shape almost his whole life. Actually it was a great system and it worked for him. In his younger years few could keep up with him running. How many guys who train legs with weights can't run, sprint or jump?  What good are their legs?

I never train legs, I feel like I can’t fit into my skinny jeans if I do, even an inch of growth throws it all off

I wouldn't want that on my conscience. You can substitute your Britney Spears fan club card in lieu of.

Leg press
Hack squat
Leg ext
Seated leg curl
Lying leg curl
Calf raises
More or less

Bodyweight squats are very underrated. Most people would see good results doing 3-4 sets of 15 reps 2x a week.

But yet you are benching over 400, dumbbell pressing 120’s for shoulders  ;D

Legs are my best body part. For a while I just did HIIT in a stationary bike and they stayed the same, it's a nice variation. My calves also improved just from jumping rope.
