Ronnie 2005: An Underrated Mr O
« on: June 22, 2019, 10:15:36 PM »
I just watched this for the first time in a long time. It isnt suprising that we dont hear much about Ronnie in 2005: it wasnt his biggest, it wasnt his freakiest, it wasnt his most aesthetic. But man, this was a great physique. He brought the waist in quite a bit, kept almost all his size from 2004, and his muscle was just crazy thick, dry, and conditioned. Dense, dense, dense muscle. As Shawn Ray said, "old man muscle!!!" This has got to be one of the most underrated Mr. O physiques.

He did have a lot of real-looking muscle. Do you think that Ronnie did any sort of synthol during his reign?

Flex, Nasser, and Ruhl took the synthol route. I think Jay may have put small quantities in his biceps.

Nasshoil Oil Synthoilbody stated that synthol in pro bodybuilding is as popular as toilet paper. Which is hard to gauge the meaning of, given a number of bodybuilders likely can't wipe their asshoils.

I've only seen a couple top pros who had what looked like obvious marks of synthol, but from what I understand (and i could be wrong), large amounts of daily site injections basically work the same as synthol since in both cases you are simply filling the muscle with oil everyday. Now I doubt Ronnie did synthol, but frequent site injections most likely. Where at? IDK. Never did see any evidence of site injections, scar tissue, etc. But maybe I didn't look close enough.

Don't think Ronnie went that way. Never saw evidence either, and there are thousands of pics on the Internet.

Something was def going on with his calves for his whole entire career

Jays arms look very odd now that he’s retired and downsized, prob years of site injections

And Vic was better than Jay in 07.

Jay was a legit 09 champ.  That's it.

I thought so too.  Not near his best but still should have won that show.

I would say Victor Martinez was the best bodybuilder on stage in 2006, actually.

I think the judges didn't want him to win nine. For whatever reason. He had bursitis in his right triceps that year [sort of stupidly, but from collapsing in "shock" after his eighth Olympia win in 2005], and it was noticeable in 2006.

Other than that, he was a copy of his 2003 form. A bit weathered, given he was older, and the bursitis which impacted his right side, but he still looked great.

Jay looked good too though. Very shredded. At least for Jay's standards. It's more debatable than 2003, where Ronnie made Jay look like an amateur - all the more insane, given that Jay was the clear 2nd place finisher.

In 2005, the IFBB sent a memo to competitors to reduce mass by 15%, while bringing in a smaller waist. So Ronnie reinvented himself by coming in at 275-lb.

I remember on MuscleMayhem, someone said that Ronnie could come in smaller by using less gear. Someone asked "How do you know that?"

Lol! Why would ANY bodybuilder use more gear than they had to, to be a certain size? OBVIOUSLY using less gear would reduce a bodybuilder's weight. Mayhem was so dumb.

Sad about Ronnie these days. I hope he's enjoying his numerous opioid prescriptions. I suspect he has been opioid-dependent for most of this decade. And he talked about his morphine script in a video, so it's not just a wild guess here.
