From John Stuart Mill, Utilitarianism (Ch. 2): "It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pawg satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied. And if the fool, or the pawg, are of a different opinions, it is because they only know their side of the question."
The junkie satisfies only lower or "foolish" inclinations. Better to be a productive person, if not for oneself (who might feel unhappy in the unrelenting toil) then for the benefit of others (greatest happiness principle). Now, as for the question of whether having sex with pawgs makes one happy, I leave that response for the BMC aficionados.
