Thirteen percent of the US population is foreign born.

Twenty-eight and a half percent of Australians is foreign born.

Nineteen percent of Canada is foreign born.

The majority of all these countries are native born! Hence none are "nations of immigrants"!

And the people who settled these countries weren't immigrants either. How? Well, in order for people to be immigrants, there needs to be countries to where they go. America wasn't in existence until people settled it. The founders simply went to a land mass with no existing nation. They made one.

So anyone who arrived after the first settlers were immigrants, by your definition. There are no existing bloodlines that were unmixed since the first settlers arrived. Therefore, we are a nation of immigrants.

Even if anyone subscribes to the nation of immigrants bullshit, the USA was at its strongest - something like 25% of the world GDP when it was 90% White.

The phrase “nation of immigrants” doesn’t literally mean “every person here was born elsewhere”, it means ”we are all descendants of immigrants”. Which we are.

It's just a phase used to justify large scale immigration and demographic changes to a nation.
In the UK, you'll also often hear 'England has always been a nation of immigrants' used in more liberal circles so it's not just an American thing either.
