Yup, the olive complexion is a mystery. There must be at least one ancestor who had it. I used to think it came from my maternal grandmother's side because she was French. Although Brittany, where she was born, is a province in France, it was settled by the British.

Milkman 

Remembering my mom and my grandmother, I must admit that the proverbial "Milkman" is a possibility. My mom had an olive complexion, but her twin sisters (red heads with freckles) and her brother did not. Hmm? Maybe granny got busy while gramps was away. I look a lot like my father, so that kind of lets my mom off the hook.

This is also a real possibility. When I was an infant, my mom and I lived on Nantucket in the summers. Most of my later childhood years were spent at State Beach in Santa Monica, CA or laying around the pool at our house in Encino, CA.

I think there are many reasons to have an interest in one's heritage. How this relates to people who are concerned with their IQ isn't immediately clear to me. Knowing about one's ancestors doesn't change who we are or make us any better than anyone else regardless of their heritage.
