Growing up in the UK countryside, shotguns normally expelled pellets..?
It's a odd one, but an updated version of the story includes this -
'They all got out of the car and ran so the guy decided to damage the car with the back of the gun.
'As he was hitting the windows the gun went off and he shot himself - that's what we've been told.'
My guess is he was downward butt stroking the windshield, the gun goes off, and it's at an angle where the pellets in the shot spread hit him, but also ricochet off the car's windshield.
Larger buckshot or steel shot might be able to ricochet back with enough force to kill you at point blank distances, but that would be some tremendously bad luck.
