Squats that much with just a 400lb atv in the bed?

Every version of the Cybertruck can haul 3,500 lbs
Air suspension is standard
Hence the rear of the truck can be lowered for easier loading / offloading

Does not seem practical with the angled rear hatch back. Unless it is removable? How are you going to haul a refrigerator or sofa on it?

To improve aerodynamics (essential for optimal range / lower energy use) the Cybertruck has an electrical cover for the bed or vault as they call it:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy92Xj5-1Yg

Apparently made strong enough so you can stand on that cover (Max lbs for that cover has not yet been stated)

Cover closed: a camera is used to project in the rear view mirror, same as most luxury pickup have now when towing a tall trailer, so the driver can see "through" / behind the trailer

Ugly piece of shit.doesnt look like a truck.Looks like a futuristic vehicle you see in 1970s movies.

Inspired by 1982 Blade Runner:

This destroys every truck ive ever seen, is going to bring a whole new customer to the ugly hillbilly confederate truck market.

That's also one of the things most car "journalists" and stupid bank / financial "analysts" have overlooked: the reservations for Cybertruck come from different states and different people than the pre order for Model 3
In other words:
Tesla is now appealing to a whole new group of customers, who previously had no interest in their products:

www.electrek.co/2019/11/27/cybertruck-popular-where-model-3-isnt-tesla-opening-ev-markets/

Chart on Twitter:

www.twitter.com/wintonARK/status/1199842789002866688?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1199842789002866688&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Felectrek.co%2F2019%2F11%2F27%2Fcybertruck-popular-where-model-3-isnt-tesla-opening-ev-markets%2F

Very important model for Tesla, bad news for the old car / truck makers: they often had profit margins of 10,000 to 15,000 usd for technically very simple full size trucks
That might change....

Electric trucks still aren't best for towing, but for people who only tow a few times per year, or light towing they can be suitable I think

Only if it makes that same 70s movie digital flying noise.  Kind of like the motorcycles in the movie Hobs and Shaw

Here in these drive by videos you can hear the sound the Cybertruck makes:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ulq8A2V79JA

and get a good view of the bed / vault:

Scary monster to see driving by at night, supercool     :)

It looks blocky but google the Aerodynamic tests. It is similar to a stealth bomber.   It looks simple in form but is a highly complicated machine.

All Tesla's are very aerodynamic, they have to be in order to be as energy efficient as possible
Despite the rectangular looks it will be much more aerodynamic than the average Sierra / RAM 1500 / Tundra and such

Someone tried to make an estimate using CFD software:

www.electrek.co/2019/11/25/tesla-cybertruck-aerodynamics-cfd-rendering/

The old F117 also looked special with "different than what we are used to" lines, but was aerodynamic for sure:

many says it's just the concept model being shown and the final model for production will look a bit different....I can't locate the reaview mirrors on this truck...LOL

Cyber truck is made like this because Elun Musk thinks it looks cool. Maybe to cut costs.

The old F117 also looked special with "different than what we are used to" lines, but was aerodynamic for sure:

Sharp edges are alot less aerodynamic. Causes more turbulent air/swivels.

F117 was made like that to deflect radar.

Cybertruck was made like that because Elon thinks it looks cool. And maybe to cut costs in manufacturing.

how about deflecting cop radar? How awesome would that be?

Installing / adding rear view mirrors is quite simple.

Or 2 rear view cameras (legal in the EU, not yet in the USA). I noticed several new Audi E-Trons here with 2 rear view cameras instead of mirrors:

But it's an expensive option, and from what I read many people had to get used to looking at the screen instead of the mirror. Helps a bit with aerodynamics though

Apparently the 30x cold rolled steel can only be bent, not stamped like in traditional cars / trucks
Hence the sharp look / edges of the cybertruck

Strong and tough material and cost effective. Same for the lack of paint (color is optional):
without paint you can produce such a truck faster, easier and at lower cost.

(And no scratches, plus paint is chemical / toxic, so fine to leave that out if it's not absolutely necessary)

And the steel apparently can withstand a 9 mm bullit fired from 18 meters (60 ft) away:

Truck buyers often are different than car buyers, and like the "Ford Tough" mucho macho slogans.

(And in many parts of the world armoured cars are rapidly increasing in sales, Brazil for example, or Mexico. People in such countries will appreciate the extra strenght and safety of the Cybertruck I think)

If you can afford a truck that cost 70k you're not living in an area where you risk getting shots fired on you anyways. So that's a contradictory sales point which I dont understand anyways.

Elon Musk is South African.

The threat of car hijackings and people shooting through the window will always be on his mind.

Cybertruck starts at 39,900 USD

Which I think was the real revelation of the presentation. The new FORD / AMAZON backed RIVIAN R1T pick up truck starts at 70,000 USD.....
That will be an easy choice I think

I first though RIVIAN (They already have their own factory and a 100,000 unit order for electric cargo vans from AMAZON) was going to succeed, but....

Tesla seems to have improved their battery technology in such a way that they are able to reduce the cost per kWh much faster than the competition.
Perhaps also thanks to their aquisition of Maxwell Technologies?

The exoskeleton and the 30x cold rolled steel help to lower the price. (I don't think electric startups like LUCID or Faraday Future will make it)

After all, Tesla is the only mass car manufacturer to have succesfully emerged since....PORSCHE after World War II
All others are just niche car makers or tuners, Pagani, Koenigsegg, McLaren and such

It's armour glass, or impact resistant glass, not bullit proof.
They tested it before the presentation, which apparently led to micro cracks in the glass (structures tend to weaken if they get hit, even though the damage might be invisible to the naked eye)

www.electrek.co/2019/11/23/a-few-too-many-rounds-tesla-cybertruck-window-shattering/

I think it's comparable to gorilla glass and such in smartphones.

Laminated glass, sometimes called acoustic glass, has been around for many years in more expensive / "premium" cars and SUVs, often as an option:

www.consumerreports.org/car-safety/laminated-glass-reduce-risk-exploding-sunroofs/

It can make your car safer, much more difficult for criminals / thieves to smash in your side or rear windows
