PL,

I commend you for going your own way but how do you get out of the family get-together?

What do the relatives think about you not showing up?  I get it...you don't care.

Still, how does it all work out?

They (inlaws and my Ma) were a little butt-hurt over it initially. MY wife & kids had to talk some sense into them (hard to do to Italian's in their 70's BTW).
"He see's you almost every weekend, all year 'round, you live right around the corner for god's sake" (Stuff like that).
Explains how "loud and crazy they are, while he (I) sit in the other room and don't say anything unless they ask me something".

Took a few years now for them to get used to, but it seems they are now over it and understand.
The craziness isn't for everyone.
Wife told them "its not about you, its how he wants to spend his holidays (in quiet), people can do what they want".

They're getting it.

IN,

The other thing that may make it easier than some (like if a newly-wed tried to pull that off) is wife and I have been together 36 years, since 1983 (age 16) married now for 30 years. (Since 1989).
So everyone (hopefully) gets my personality. (Its still a bit hard I bet, for that age (old-school Italian w/ their traditions) to fully get it.

I guy and don’t come down til their gone around midnight.Same thing every year.Wife doesn’t mind and they are used to it.Not much for small talk with people I share no interests with.I don’t do anything I don’t want to do.I also don’t celebrate thanksgiving.i do Christmas Day at my moms and Easter with kids but other than that I don’t do holidays or ever see my wife’s family.

Haha that’s awesome even taking food and drink up so you don’t have to see them, I’m like you have zero contact with lasses family only my mother comes on Christmas but on the rare occasion her mother or her fat sister visit through the year I either go out or go upstairs, she is doing her Christmas visit to family now doesent even ask if I’m coming any more. Fuck that shit

If I find a window, will squeak in the following:

8 minute warmup circuit + 2 additional movements:
PVC Kang squat x 5
Banded monster walk x 5
Lateral single leg hop x 5
200m jog

Single arm ring row
Half kneel KB press

Stamina:
6 sets @ 400m run at 80-90% pace
2 min walk between sets

Strength:
6 sets floor press x 3 @ 90% or 3RM
Superset one arm DB row x 12 per side

3 sets hanging L hold x 30 sec

15 min massage gun / stretching

Completed today, not yesterday.

Sprints a 6.0-6.5 minute mile pace.

Couldn't do the L holds though.  Did flutter kicks instead.

I can't say they're not effective for you!

In truth, I use bands a lot.

I bench press now, but I do them for delts as I dont press overheard at all, chest is now cables and machine flys, I have started just doing excercises I can actually feel making the muscle work, my pecs get zero out of and flat or incline work, they just dont pump up
