whoa fella better slow down, that takes years of practice and training angles are no laughing matter you could hurt yourself and others around you...

What's funny, is that Im always "inventing" new movements that I have not seen before. Do I really need to train with Charles to make up new movements?  ??? ???

There's only 1 real question you can ask about Charles though...

Is he ??  (wait for it)....

He looks like a gloriously homeless person who is so visually creepy that if you saw him in person, you'd be blown away. His features appear to be almost perfectly hidden beneath a scrubby beard. He's a vagrant man with dark hair and filthy skin. He's masculine in terms of his facial structure and physical build. The only flaw I see is that his training style is too perfect, which sometimes translates to being pretty...a term best saved for females.

Being homeless is great. But, it isn't enough. What else does he have going on? Does he have substance? Is he intelligent? Is he interesting? Does he have a good sense of humor? Is he compassionate? Is he romantic? Is he a winner? Is he sexual?

I've met bums who were so beautiful or handsome that at first that's all you saw about them. Once they started talking and you looked deeper, you were let down because you realized their homelessness was all there was positive about them. They were just a beautiful storefront on an outhouse. You cannot judge a book by its cover.

For his sake, I hope he's got more going for himself than just how unorthodox his training methods are.

Just a few degrees change in angle and your arms can become 20"+.

Without this arcane knowledge you are doomed to 14".

You've got to take creatine though.

not just any creatine when one shops for a product you must find an ad where the person posing with said product not only can make a great thumbs, But when posing he makes the most grimacing face, then you have a winner ;D

This topic has been beaten to death

Let’s put it this way, Ronnie, Phil, Jay, even dexter (before glass) all won O’s and major shows without training with him, the list goes on

The irony is flex wheeler, one of the most genetically gifted trained with him but no O titles to show for, Cormier, Dillett as well

With all respect, Dan, a dozen other posters voiced similar opinions.  Why blast this one guy for saying the same thing?

Frankly, Glass does not impress me as a trainer.  I watched a clip of him yelling, "Come on, Flex!  Contrack!  Contrack!," all the while it was plain that, in spite of Flex's grunting, the latter was seemingly struggling with pussy weights with sloppy form, then stopping well before anything truly challenging.

Everyone who he "trained" were genetically blessed dudes on plenty of gear.  Using some funny angles didn't improve any of them.  If anything, his prize student, Flex, was far better in 1993 than he was in the late 90s.  Flex had some good showings in the meantime, but if Glass was fucking Yoda, Flex et al. should have continued to improve, yes?  Didn't happen.  The ONLY guy he toyed with who improved was Cormier, and Chris was more known for hoisting big weights than he was doing some weird backward lat pulls on a Hammer press.

Charles and I have been friends since the late 1980's. Spent more than a few Thanksgiving dinners siting around the same table.

Do this; go to Golds Venice, speak to Charles, arrange a few sessions. Come to your own conclusions. It ain't that hard. Tell him Thomas Pheil sent you. He might even give you a discount.

Charles is one of the most genuine people at Golds. Never hesitates to shake your hand or take a picture. Can’t wait to start working with him next month

How much does he charge you? I can't believe he's still there. He was a fixture back in the early 1990s when I use to train there. I wonder how old he is.

Yes, Gunter came in at his absolute best working with Glass. He never achieved that level again and was robbed that year at the 2002 Olympia.

So, he never achieved that level again but was still working with glass?

His tips and tricks and different angles are useless - Athlean-X actually gives guidance based on biomechanics and correct movement and it’s all free on YouTube. Why the fuck anyone would employ Charles Glass is beyond me.

I think his bullshit can work to an extent...

It can help to mix things up, and glass's weird angles and positions do just that, especially if your a very experienced trainer that has stagnated in their routine,.. Like a lot of pro bbers would.

But you would probably want to switch back to conventional style training after a month or two imo.
