The shit hits then the fan, and America gets to work. It’s always been that way. You don’t think every city park, sports arena, venue etc won’t be turned into triage? You don’t think our manufacturing can whip up ventilators and masks? The medical requirements are basic. No one is needed heart surgery and chemo over this. A respirator and fluids, if you happen to be in the unlucky top of the pyramid that even needs medical assistance.

There is no question we could have handled these situation better and history will soon decide if we have completely botched this Covid19, but who would you suggest is the standard that the world should emulate  when it comes to these devastating disasters?

There is no standard to emulate with covid19, you just try your best to prepare for what's ahead. The US was giving a helping hand in is. They basically have a crystal ball and can see weeks ahead at what's to come, just by looking at other Western countries. Somehow they have managed to still be one of the worst prepared countries for it.

It appears the US has already screwed itself with its handling of the economy. Or by not shutting its borders sooner.

I truly believe the disease and the overwhelming of the hospitals was never the "scary" part for Americans, as Visualizeperfection said we have been good at shifting production and converting  facilities, its the loss of jobs and the economic shut down.

But as has been said, we will soon find out.
