The man lifted inhuman weights for volume day in day out, on top of cardio/diet, up until his mid 40's. No major injuries or tears while he was training (maybe a left lat tear depending on who you ask). Well-balanced strength, no weakpoint lifts. Hell, the guy even competed in powerlifting for a while.
Calling his intelligence or judgement into question I could see, but I dont understand how anyone could call his physical structure anything less than "top-flight". Care to elaborate?
He said he injured his back squatting, heard what sounded like a gun shot sound, but didn't have any pain and continued training. The next day he realised he had injured his back. This apparently caused nerve damage which led to his lat atrophying.
If he modified his training after the injury, he could have probably avoided a lot of his problems.
