It's TRUE and sad thing is that it going to continue to get worse. Its setting an impossible standard for the general public to strive for. It can really make a weak minded person feel worthless.

Exactly.  Most of social media success you see is backed by lies and deceit.  I know a lot of people who flaunt this amazing persona online, yet in real life they are not successful and generally depressed.  This is why I deleted all social media accounts last year.  It's all a façade.

A girl I grew up with killed herself 4 years ago because someone exposed her lies publicly.  Instead of stand up and admit she lied about all her successes, she ate a bullet.  Very sad!  She was a really cool chick, just got caught up in the social media bullshit.
Sad story. However not all these people are lying, some that's their actual life. You can take it and maybe use it as inspiration or you can let it depress you. Before social media these lifestyles weren't so publicized,  so you weren't really aware of all the awesome things you may not be experiencing in life, take for example Dan Blizerian, as much of a douchebag he may be, the guy is living it up, rich, successful,  traveling everywhere,  surrounded by models day and night, it can make a normal guy really feel like shit about his life. Social media can really be destructive to some peoples outlook on life.

That's true, I know a lot of people are honest and just trying to share their life experiences.  Most of the extremely successful people I know personally do not share anything on social media because they don't like attention.  But yeah there are guys like Dan who make us normal people wish for something different, but not everyone wants his lifestyle.  I think it all depends on how you handle such things; I can see a super successful guy and say "that's awesome" but I don't envy people.

I just think it's really sad to see young people get caught up in all of this nonsense.  It makes life less comfortable when you "think" other peoples lives should be envied, but if that is what you want out of life it's all good.  I never envied Mr Olympia or wanted that life, but when I was a kid and young teen I damn sure wanted to look like Arnold one day.  I've been up and down in my life and career; I've been broke and been successful, i'd rather just have an honest living and enjoy life without expectations from the masses.  We all get to define our own expectations, I think these days people have an unjust understanding of what it means to be successful.

RON, I've only read your initial post concerning 'suicide' and jumped here in an effort to respond quickly without first reading each response on pages 1, 2, & 3.

As most GetBiggers may be aware .... there are presently 22 suicides a day among vet and active duty military personnel.

I've been trying to find some statistics regarding these suicides and was referred to the White House for detailed information but  only received a "Call your VA office!" response.

So I soon found myself in a discussion about the '22 a day' situation and my very very small involvement .... with a couple of screen-writer friends  who are excited about getting a feature motion picture underway based on some actual experiences that have occurred and why no one nor no organization appears to be capable of preventing it.

I intend to send you my unprofessional "treatment" which may or may not be of interest.

Just say "YEA" or "NaH". "KEN" or "LO"

United States military veteran suicide

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_military_veteran_suicide

"In 2012 alone, an estimated 7,500 former military personnel died by suicide. More active duty service members, 177, succumbed to suicide that year than were killed in combat, 176. The Army suffered 52% of the suicides from all branches.[1]

In 2013, the United States Department of Veteran Affairs released a study that covered suicides from 1999 to 2010, which showed that roughly 22 veterans were dying by suicide per day, or one every 65 minutes.[4] Some sources suggest that this rate may be undercounting suicides.[5] An analysis done in 2013 found a suicide rate among veterans of about 30 per 100,000 population per year, compared with the civilian rate of 14 per 100,000.[5][6] However, the comparison was not adjusted for age and sex.

According to a report published by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 2016, which analyzed 55 million veterans' records from 1979 to 2014, the current analysis indicates that an average of 20 veterans die from suicide per day.[7]"

IRON, I wish I could answer your question, but I cannot.

One of my questions was, "Does one's religious upbringing have any affect on an individual's decision to commit  suicide?"

Most religions say that you will suffer dier consequences if you take your own life!

But it appears that I was politically incorrect by asking that question.

Politically incorrect?  No.  Not really.  My younger brother was also raised Catholic and he took his own life.  The rules of man are not always from above but ofttimes from within the depths of their own sordid souls.  If, that is, they/we have a soul.  Which I doubt.

The I AM.   The self evident One.  The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.  The Hebrew God who later became manifest in the Nazarene.   This is what I told my mother when my youngest brother took his own life. Being Cashew, she knew well the story of Samson but never considered that in order to destroy the Philistines he would have to have his strength restored to him by God and in doing so, his own life would be forfeit.

Greater gift hath no man than to lay down his life for his friends.  Sometimes the fact that others choose not to believe makes no difference in the power of faith based in love.  Even when that someone is your own son.  I simply reminded her of her faith.

I may have lost my faith but not my love for my mother and our family.

Oooops!  Forgot to say, your avatar is fantastic!  Curly is the best!

Terribly sad.

In her videos, she seems fragile and immature. Grasping.

Living ain’t easy.

And NO ONE should talk shit about one who chooses suicide.

That is a dark place beyond words.

RIP to this young lady. Sometimes life just steamrolls the pure of heart.

Could be she broke someone else's heart and then couldn't cope with the guilt...

Not happening. She will in some cases end her life if somebody else „breaks“ her heart but she‘ll never do it just for feeling guilty breaking someone else‘s heart. When a woman does that she doesn‘t give rat‘s ass about you anymore or never even has.

People commit suicide because they are depressed,unhappy,and/or lonely in most cases.

RIP

Way too young to die.
