Prime Im sure in real life you're a good dude, but on here you can be frustrating to converse with. That said I wish you no ill will and for future reference anything I say to you I hope its taken in the context of its just Getbig.
I dont know if you actually offered advice on improving race relations but everytime someone brings up Floyd's past your retort is did he deserve to die?
No one said he deserved to die, BUT when an officer takes into account his violent history, his overwhelming physical presence all while he is resisting arrest its not unlikely a GOOD cop would be using "excessive force" let alone the dirtbag who brought him down.
Police reform is needed. There should be no overtime. Cops should work trucker hours, where there are mandatory rest periods between shifts, etc... and people should know if you fight with cops, whether right or wrong, it could be you'd life.
Maybe it would have been better if Floyd was left to drive and rob other stores. At worst he gets into a car wreck while under the influence and kills a family.
It would be so much easier and less frustrating, if I would pretend to agree with what many others post here, including you. Either this group appeals mainly to people with right wing views, or there a lot of folks on here who just go with the flow whether they concur or not. But, here's the thing, if we all agree about everything all of the time, what is the point of a discussion or even having a forum where controversial topics are discussed on a regular basis?
Here's why I know it is highly unlikely I offered advice on improving race relations; I honestly don't know how that could be reasonably accomplished at this point in time. All I know is that I personally have never had a negative experience with a person of another race. I am not going to dislike a race of people just because others do and think I should too. One other thing is my world is much larger than just my lily white neighborhood. So in my opinion, folks who say I have no idea what the rest of the world is like are dead wrong and what they say is just a cheap and convenient cop out remark.
Did officer Chauvin know about George Floyd's "violent" past? George Floyd was no angel that's for sure. Just how violent or dangerous he was is debatable and most likely has been exaggerated. If he was high on meth, that alone would be reason to consider him dangerous.
https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/06/12/george-floyd-criminal-record/ Officer Chauvin doesn't exactly have a halo over his head either. According the Minneapolis internal affairs records he's had 18 complaints filed against him. However, the police department has not release information as to the nature of the complaints.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/28/us/minneapolis-officer-complaints-george-floyd/index.html I repeatedly ask the question as to whether Floyd deserved to die because unless he posed an immediate threat to the arresting officers or the other officers who were at the scene, he did not deserve being held down with a knee to his neck for nearly 10 minutes prior to his death. Surely considering the number of officers present, Floyd could have been effectively restrained in some manner which would not have taken his life.
If police are pulling extra shifts with little or no time off between them, is it not possible it is because they volunteer to do this? Truck drivers used to work endless hours and they kept themselves going by taking speed. Some volunteer and some were asked to do so. While I agree that police should have adequate time off between shifts, because they are often required to appear in court when they would normally be off this is not always possible.
