Yup, pretty stupid.  Flex saw the attention that Leverone got during his comeback and he wanted the same thing.

This .

he also wanted to be called the natural freak ' pushing some new creatine  and wanted to launch  a line of shoes like Jordan or Lebron James  ... none of that worked for his ego so  he made a comeback

Wooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh   BE YE KE

To me it sounds like he is thinking of some procedure he doesn't want to have. He is going to be meeting docs regardless, to see how his rehab is going, getting his drugs adjusted and so on. His kidney might be stressed from whatever drugs he's using for pain. Just speculating.

Look, the guy was an arrogant doughrag the times I met/spoke (with) him, but it is sad he’s now such a wreck.

As others say, however, his decision to return to the stage was world-class retardation. He looked like absolute shit (certainly in comparison to how his build once was) and, in the process of achieving that bad visual for his fans, he greatly stressed a body already hugely damaged from his years as a top pro.

I vividly recall him strutting like a peacock in Gold’s, and, indeed, everywhere he went, and his fake cartoon physique was inarguably something to behold. But he made a deal with the devil.

And now the devil’s having his laugh.

This is true for many bodybuilders.

It's sad to see your childhood heroes go down. As a kid you put those guys (Ronnie, Flex, Shawn and Kevin) on the pedestal and thought that they could do nothing wrong. Remember watching the battle for the Olympia 2000 tape twenty years ago and chuckling away Flex blowing 60k on the car stereo  ;D

Flex have had some bad luck regarding health. Kidney problems caused by anabolic steroid usage are rare. Flex has focal segmental glomerulosclerosis which is itself a very rare condition. At this point in my knowledge they haven't establish the link between FSG and gear use. When I finished my MD I did some research on AAS abuse and down below is a research paper that I used as a source. Check it out if you're interested in gear use.

X2.

Flex Wheeler has been dealing with health issues since the mid 90s.

That 1993 drug/ diuretics protocol came with a price.

Flex problems stem from high BP, diuretics and synthol, all that shit has to go through your system, the kidneys can only do so much

It's truly amazing to witness athletes blow all there money.  It's like they think their physical bodies will continue to make them big money for the rest of their lives.  70% of NFL players file bankruptcy within 2 years of retirement.

Give a 22 year old from the hood 10 million and thinks he has enough money to last the rest of his life. First thing he buys is a 3 million dollar house. A one million dollar house for his Mom. He needs 500K in cars.  After 3 or 5 years he is finished with the NFL. There goes his house, his mom's house and the all the cars.

If someone explained to them the value of money they wouldn't get into this predicament. They should tell them the average cop in California makes a million every 9 years it puts it into perspective.

I know a lineman that played in the NFL for 7 years in the early 80's. He never made over 200K but that was the equivalent of a million a year now. He was broke when he left. He said if he played today he would have been paid millions and knowing what he knows now he would have wisely invested the money instead of living it up.

But like you said that is an indirect effect of anabolic steroids and most commonly used anabolic steroids don't have acute toxic effects on kidneys. The are spesific situations that can happen like AAS induced liver failure causing toxic levels of bilirubin cumulation and damage to the kidneys but those are rare. Btw the statement itself that AAS cause high blood pressure is interesting one. There are plenty of evidence to support that statement but also many studies that they have hard time replicating the findings.

Loop diuretics (Lasix) are on the other hand much more dangerous to the kidneys because they have direct effect by decreasing renal blood flow.

Most of those guys live paycheck to paycheck regardless of income.  Adrian Peterson pissed through over 100 million dollars!!!  He still is playing to pay off debts!

Holyfield wrote in his book about how most sports people end up broke by not investing properly and said they should just put a couple of million away in a bank account and forget about it then they would always have that to fall back on

The fact that there are so many pics of him with his leg missing leads me to believe he has no insecurity about it but probably shows it off as a battle scar.  If he was insecure he would wear his artificial leg and pants all the time.  I used to work with a guy for months not knowing he lost a leg in a motorcycle accident.  One day he wore shorts to work and he had a terminator leg.
