In Regina, Sask where I live for 1600 you can get a newly built 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo with parking in a great neighbourhood
I have a  small 2 bedroom house in a really good neighbourhood and I pay 750 a month. I even built a putting green in the backyard  :D

Out of curiosity do you know what would $1600 get you in Thunderbay, (besides a broken heart and a restraining order)?

For another 150 a month, so 1800, you can get a 3 bedroom house on 40 acres just outside of Thundery BAy. Comes with a mancave with pool table and foosball table, chickens with multiple coops, many many bushes with edible berries and 5 minutes to multiple beaches and fishing spots

probably have to have an eye appealing penis to get it though, and it must measure 6.45 inches

Calling a vending machine a "full time snack center" seems a bit of a reach, even for a millenial New Yorker.

But srsly, how is that possilbe? Do people earn that much more in NYC? I mean, in a huge city there have to be "regular people" (nurses, policemen, store clerks etc.) as well, how can they afford housing/living there, assuming not every cop or nurse is living in his/her car? ???

Most of the cops in NYC live in NJ or in cheaper neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. No cop could afford mid town Manhattan.  Even though cops and many nurses in NYC make over 100K they couldn't afford Manhattan.

I asked my brother the same thing!  He used to live outside of San Francisco, and now he lives outside of Seattle.  In his old neighborhood, a house that burned sold for $1.4m, yes... 1.4 F*cking million dollars.  Keep in mind, you are paying for the home to be demolished and removed, so the buyer essentially paid around 1.5m for a lot of land less than 3/4 of an acre!!!!!!  I asked him where do people live that make less than 300k a year, and he just said "not around here"! LOL!

Rent control helps but you still have to make something.

Cops don't live outside of the city because they can't afford to live here. Everyone who is not a uniformed officer that works for the NYPD (administrative, etc) has to live here and they are not all making hundreds of thousands of dollars.

No one ever accused NYC of being reasonably priced, but it is not  impossible for "normies" to live here. NYC is not just midtown or even manhattan. There's nothing wrong with living in an outer borough, but even staying within Manhattan, there are plenty of areas with more reasonable housing prices than central midtown.
Yes, things can be very high priced in central midtown, but even here when you go east of 3rd or west of 9th,  rents drop drastically. And most new yorkers know that studios and one bedrooms are the worst bang for your buck, 2 and 3 bedrooms are a pretty decent deal if you are splitting with a roommate (which is common in NYC.)
Also, singles who see a future with each other tend to move in together really fast here to save money on rent. Then there is a decent amount of subsidized housing here.  Wages are generally higher here than in most of the rest of the country, but there are plenty of moderate incomes living all over manhattan.
