Please Say A Prayer For My Mother.
« on: February 05, 2021, 12:21:06 PM »
Just had to call an ambulance for my mother a little over an hour ago. She was breathing, but not responsive.

It all started when she fell and dislocated her hip, and broke her leg, in August of 2019. It was a slow recovery, and she had/has had to use a walker ever since. Her lack of mobility caused her leg muscles to weaken, which basically caused a domino effect.

She started having less energy and eating less.

Fast forward to the last few days. Didn't eat shit, and she complained of not sleeping barely at all.

I was keeping a sharp eye on her, because I saw even a sharper decline the past few days. She was in bed way too long to not notice something was wrong. I checked on her the first time, and I saw that she was breathing (and actually snoring) so I said to myself, she might actually be getting some deep sleep for once.

The second time I had to try to wake her just to get something to eat. While she was clearly breathing, she was unresponsive to light shaking/slapping of her cheeks, or verbal commands.

Hopefully, all she needs is a few IVs and maybe a feeding tube for awhile. I think she just became too weak to function.

She is only 61.  :'(

Sorry to read this about your mom. She's so young. I sincerely hope she's going to be okay and that her hospital stay is very short. Keep us posted.

A doctor once told me that for each day a person spends in the hospital, it takes a week to recover. This was definitely true for my wife and my mom.

Prayers don't work.

We have no way to know that. Also, inappropriate time for this shit. Be better than that.  Wishing Shizzos mother all the best.

It's been a rough year and a half for me. Watching my mom slowly deteriorating into what transpired today. I already had a problem with alcohol, but this would drive anyone insane.

My heart goes out to you. My mom passed away this June from cancer, she was 59.

Cherish the moments you have now.

A LOT can change after a year and a half of such immobility.  Malnourishment, anemia, blood chemistry out-of-whack, etc.

The hospital will stabilize her and diagnose her condition.  I hope that it’ll just be some simple treatment and physical therapy to get her back on her feet.

Sorry Dave. Spending time with my own mother more now because I know every day counts. I only realised that late last year when she had a bad fall and I thought she wouldn’t actually come home from hospital

I hope everything is alright.

People can be very resilient.

I actually moved to where i am now to be closer to my parents and help care for them.

Hopefully it is what is suspected and the hospital puts recovery in motion.

Best of luck to a speedy recovery.

It is a good thing you were there, realized something was wrong and called for an ambulance. No doubt you saved her life. All of those conditions are life threatening.  Do you know what caused the septic shock? My thoughts are with you. Stay positive.
