Crash Josh's pic references, interesting story. A real hose 'um off, and get back to work deal -

A post from another board that gets into weights, speeds, etc.... -
"Empire state building was hit by a B-25 that was low on fuel and trying to find its airfield to land. At the time of the impact with the Empire State Building, it was probably going 200 MPH or less and had a few hundred gallons of fuel on board. The weight of the aircraft would have been in the vicinity of 15 tons, probably less since it was unarmed and low on fuel.
The 767s that hit the WTC towers weighed 150 tons and were traveling at around 500 MPH at the time of impact. They were estimated to be carrying 10,000 gallons of fuel.
Doing the math, you have a force of impact about 25 times as great for the 767 while the heat generated by the exploding jet fuel would be 30 times as great.
Also the construction of the buildings was quite different. The Empire State Building is supported in part by concrete columns while the WTC towers very controversially were not. While this made the WTC towers faster to build and had more useful space per floor, they also made them very vulnerable to fire as was demonstrated dramatically on 9/11/2001."
