Was going to wait but I figured you guys should know that 2 weeks ago, I was offered a job basically doing the same thing i currently do in customer relations.  The pay is quite well but I would also be able to  handle my other holdings such as M-Kopa.  The biggest driving factor is that I can live like a king.  Giant house, maids to clean my house , personal chef, driver, etc.

All I need to do is deposit $10,000 in an account for when I get there


I haven't made the decision but I have another month to decide.  I am shopping for homes in the 100 Million KES range but I've been pretty stoked lately...we will see

MKopa...its provides a way for very poor people to have access to electricity to replace coal.  They get a 5 watt solar panel, battery, and a light and only pay a few shillings for the service until the device is paid off...usually 50 cents a day  Payments are done through M-Pesa on the phones they can now charge up.  Once they pay off their equipment,  they can redo the agreement to add things like a TV set.  It's a very transformative product that allows children and business to operate at night, get on the internet, etc.

Granted, I know some will say that the internet exists in Kenya and that you could certainly continue to post on the forum, but Kenya is very dangerous (from what a few others here have stated) and there's no telling if something were to happen to you. I know, I know, you're a former corrections officer, security guard and WWF wrestler, but even so, Kenya is no man's land. The crime rate in Kenya is very high and people are killed all the time. If you would have said Rwanda instead, maybe I could cope with it, but I fear you might not return to us.

When i worked as a International Consultant for a massive engineering firm, we required the client to fly us to the location for a week before making anything permanent. Most of our contracts were 18-36 month minimums.

Seriously Vince, try to work a deal where they fly you out there for a week. Pretty much all large companies will do this and reimburse you. This will help you make up your mind.

When i had a contract in Venezuela, i originally didn't want to go, but after spending 5 days there i changed my mind and lived there for almost 2 years.

The one thing i learned working overseas, is know the places you need to live and stay there, do not go around without an escort if you value your life. Not necessary to hire a guard most of the time, but you need a "handler". Do not ever act like you have money. Always stay home at night. Know the local code of conduct and act right. Many places don't take kindly to Americans at all, in fact a lot of places despise our existence.

Anyway, do whatever makes you happy. Personally i would never want to live in Kenya, but you may very well like it there.
