The first thing I noticed when Melissa began to go downhill was her hair became more and more strawlike.

The test/androgens, peroxide-ing and dieting was wrecking her tresses at an alarming rate.

Just a couple years into serious higher-up competing and Coates was seriously deteriorating.

The last time I saw Melissa Coates, she was on the cover of Muscular Development in 1997 (I have that issue in my garage).

That is, Muscular Development-Fitness-Health, right before it morphed into All-Natural Muscular Development.

This was when MD wasn't putting anymore steroid-using bodybuilders (male ones, at least) on its covers after all the blowback from Andreas Munzer's death.

BTW, I just checked some of my old magazines in the garage. I was right.

The Melissa-Coates cover was the last issue of "Muscular-Development-Fitness-Health" (Jan. 1997). The next month, it officially became "All-Natural-Muscular Development (Feb. 1997), with fitness champion Karen Hulse on the cover (again, no male bodybuilders up front).

Could very well have been. But if so, I find this extremely upsetting. More so than the overwhelming majority of suicides, for some reason. When I saw her she was so vibrant looking and beautiful.

To imagine her situation would devolve to a point when she’d off herself …

Could have been but she had vascular problems which is why her leg was amputated.

More than anything else except maybe their big fat ego (and a HUGE EGO is definitely a contraindication when it comes to AAS, etc.) what gets these fools is their terminal stupidity.

And yes, she was a very pretty woman who is now pretty dead. Life is hard. It's really hard when you're really stoooopid.
