Dave was not a mass monster he was a turdmonster

Ruhl also smoked him.  02 NOC had a few monsters.

That show was crazy.  The lighting was great.  Paco Bautista legs were insane.   One of the most entertaining shows I've been too - nohomo.   :D ;)

Markus mentioned in a video recently that the Weider magazines were pushing Bob Cicherillo hard at that time as the "frontrunner" for that show - as Bob would be "the guy to beat" coming into the NOC 2002. When he was standing on stage next to Markus and Paul Dillet, not even the most dedicated Weider-schmoe-judges could help him though.... ;D

Only the top 5 bodybuilders in the world could beat Markus during that era.

Chick placed SECOND at that show, which means he beat Dillet and he beat Darrem Charles, who bested him a week earlier to win his first show, The Southwest Pro. Besides, why would he be the favorite at the NOC, considering Charles beat him a week earlier?

Darrem Charles was never consider top 5 in the world; he was dubbed, "King of the $10,000 shows". But, he beat Ruhl in 2003 at the Maximus Pro in Italy.

At the time Bobert was considered “marketable” well spoken, tall for bbing standards, easy on the eyes, and white, so they were def pushing for him even though he was sub par tier 2 at best

He was even featured in Malcolm in the middle and dodge ball

I remember that show. Art Atwood also beat Ruhl at a pro show in Toronto.

But generally speaking, Ruhl only lost to the best of the best.

I saw Bob in 1995, when he was was still an amateur. Dorian was in the audience that night, so Bob’s size was not jumping out at people, because all eyes were on Yates. But Bob was definitely big and wide. His X-Frame is underrated. Wide quads, wide shoulders, relatively small waist.

Wow, Bob was mocked on here back in the days permanently for his mediocre physique - these days he would look decent in an Olympia line-up; pretty sad actually :D

Not really. A number of good (but not elite) pros have beaten Ruhl.

Did you forget how magazine hype worked? They were prepared months before actual shows and share the results months after. If a magazine hyped up a competitor that would make him the favorite. At the time we lived in Joe Wieders bodybuilding world, he didn’t play by our rules.
