A neurosurgeon diagnoses Joe Biden

Following my post today, a neurosurgeon and Unreported Truths reader (yes, some of you are actually brain surgeons) wrote in.

For obvious reasons, he did not want his name used, but his email and answers to my follow-up question speak for itself. I’d urge you to read to the end, for the prediction he makes.

I simply wanted to give you a thumbs up on your diagnosis of POTUS.

He undoubtedly has Parkinson’s disease, and is increasingly suffering from Parkinson’s dementia. The signs are unmistakable:

-his shuffling gait

-the absence of associated movements (facial expression, arm swinging). When he does swing his arms, it appears stilted - probably because his handlers have told him to swing his arms when he walks. It’s something we all do naturally, but it goes away in Parkinson’s disease

-gait instability

-soft voice

-ON and OFF periods - times when the medication seems to be working well, and when it isn’t (also explains how a good dose of Sinemet times right could get him more animated

-resting tremor is not prominent in Biden’s case, but this is true of many cases of Parkinsonism

His physicians UNDOUBTEDLY know this, and it is unconscionable that we do not know this about his health record. I understand HIPAA issues, but this is worse than the Roosevelt secret - he couldn’t walk. At least he had his mind about him! Here we have someone with cognitive issues with his hand on the nuclear button.

Yeah, so many have been exposed.

Now, all they're trying to do is all coordinate to spin the SC decision into a big lie to scare people away from Trump.

It's embarrassing, and nobody is falling for it except liberal women, hollywood soyboys, and game developers.

This is like a friggin comedy.  Unbelievable.

In the 23 days leading up to the debate against former President Donald J. Trump, Mr. Biden jetted across the Atlantic Ocean twice for meetings with foreign leaders and then flew from Italy to California for a splashy fund-raiser, maintaining a grueling pace that exhausted even much younger aides.

Mr. Biden was drained enough from the back-to-back trips to Europe that his team cut his planned debate preparation by two days so he could rest at his house in Rehoboth Beach, Del., before joining advisers at Camp David for rehearsals. The preparations, which took place over six days, never started before 11 a.m. and Mr. Biden was given time for an afternoon nap each day, according to a person familiar with the process.

Whatever your politicial affilation, I think it's safe to say that we all agree that Biden really only had one job in the debate: to prove to the American people at large that he was up to the physical and mental challenges of the Presidency. That's a concern that even his supporters had and it's not unfounded; he is old and old age conspires to reduce even the most powerful of us to frail wisps.

Biden failed to do what he needed to do (and that's me being generous). If the Biden that spoke at a rally a few hours later (I don't know exactly how much later) on stage at a rally had shown up, he would have likely assuaged or at least mitigated some of these concerns. But he didn't. Instead we got the shuffling, slack-jawed, mumbling Biden and even those that weren't worried before are worried now.

To have the Biden campaign and their surrogates say things like "Biden is sharp as a tack" or that "he is healthier than most of us" (the question of who "us" is aside) is just insulting. The Biden we saw was not sharp and didn't seem healthy. It wasn't a cold or lack of sleep, and if all it takes to reduce Biden to a mumbling, quivering buffoon is a cold and not getting 8 hours of sleep a night, then he's just not fit to be President.

Its one thing carting him out there for a teleprompter to give a speech someone else wrote for him.   Notice how he never does interviews or press conferences with tough questions?

When was the last actual press conference he took questions from everyone?

The debate laid bare what we have been saying all along - this is a Potemkin Village Presidency

He has rarely had press conferences.  It's pretty clear he cannot think on his feet and answer questions without a teleprompter.

Why do you care where we went? Are you looking for an argument regarding Biden's disastrous debate? You will not get one from me. It is interesting though that you want to keep 'beating a dead horse,' pun intended.

I'd imagine this is your last at bat so go ahead and waste your vote on DementedJoe. Personally, I'd be proud to be a relative of Trump and I'd be embarrassed to the point of changing my last name if I was a Biden. Trash family the Biden Crime Family, absolute filth!

I heard Joe Pags make an interesting comment.  The Biden we saw at the debate was the best version of Biden there is.  He took a week to prepare, with the help of his staff/aides.  He was well rested.  Took naps every day.  It's not as if additional prep time, etc. will make him better.

Only thing I'd add to that is I think sundowning played a big role.

If I was a betting man, I would wager that he has already privately taken a mental exam and failed it.

I think it’s smart to not take the test, from a political standpoint. There’s nothing for him to gain and taking such an exam can only hurt him. If he passes, even if it is with flying colors, the mere fact that he was forced to take such a test and publish the results is damaging. And the test results won’t make the concerns raised by the debate go away. People saw what they saw.

His only path forward would be to get out there, day in and day out, pounding the pavement. To be control of his facial expressions, speaking well, without mumbling and trailing off, answering questions on the fly and citing facts without making any mistakes. Of course, that’s a challenge even for someone in their prime.

So yeah, he wouldn’t do that, even if he could. I don’t think there’s much he can do to address the damage from the debate. Taking a test would be political suicide.

That’s not to say I object to presidential/vice-presidential candidates from having to submit to a full health checkup, including cognitive and mental health, summary results of which are made public for the voters to consider. In fact, I think it should be mandatory.
