Info on UFC betting
« on: August 06, 2021, 08:25:21 PM »
I realized that I'm pretty good at predicting UFC winners and considering getting on the fun. Problem is I don't know where to start, how to bet, and what the odds mean. For example, in the Connor/Poirier fight, they had Connor at +120 and Poirier at -140. What do those numbers mean? Wasn't Poirier favored to win?

$100 stake on Conner gives you $120 profit (+120)

To profit $100 on Piorier you need to stake $140 (-140)

If the site offers fractional odds, use them as they are easier to understand (decimal odds are even better)

If you want to get more serious, compare odds across different sites and always take the best odds.

Who you got in the main event tonight?  Lewis only has the haymaker chance to win in my opinion.  I think Cyril Gane is the goods.  I think when all the dust settles, he'll be the UFC champ.  I think he's a naturally bigger version of Jon Jones.  I can see a scenario where they are the last two standing.

Betonline and Heritage are probably the 2 best online books to wager at.  Having multiple books to wager at allows you to get the best odds for the fighter that you want to bet on.  He may be +120 at one and +140 at another.

I just don't know enough about either to make a choice. I tend toward Aldo for the co-main but haven't studied his opponent enough to make a bet. Aldo was extremely dominant in his day but his day is gone. Still competitive but once you hit the wall it's a toss-up. Same with Anderson Silva. Just unbeatable -- until he got beaten. Now just a run-of-the-mill gatekeeper.

When I say that I'm pretty good at predicting winners I should have qualified that. It's only when I feel confidant enough in my pick. Of course, I've been wrong, but when I was it was always by some kind of fluke. I had Holly Homes over Meisha Tate and Holly was winning all the way but that one slip up and Tate got her back and choked her out.

I actually learned a lot from BJ Penn's career. Of course, I was biased as he is from Hawaii but I always kept that in the back on mind to try to be more objective. But having known him since his Blue Belt days in the BJJ tournament circuit and closed-door scraps between rival students and clubs, he was a real genuine talent. Always love to fight and was a street fighter since he was a kid. But like a lot of athletes born with talent and didn't have to work as hard as others he was undisciplined and inclined to laziness. Not to mention that he love to party and loved his coke and alcohol. That takes its toll on the world stage and when in deep, deep waters can't draw in that extra "something-something" and why GSP, not as much as a talent, came out on top.

So it's not just how they look in Octagon but what kind of person they are. What are they made of? Watch BJ when he gets tired and things aren't going his way and compare that to say, a Tony Ferguson. With Ferguson, it's to the death. So the heart is always there and often that's enough to pull out the victory over a better man but when there's round and time limits other factors have to be taken unto consideration.

I'm not sure. It's very different in different countries.

This place would be your best resource though. Both for betting sites and questions/forum chat

Word of warning though. Just because you can pick the winners of fights, doesn't mean you can turn a profit gambling long term. You could pick 4 out of 6 winners on a card and still fail to make a profit. You need to find the best odds possible and stick to a staking plan to stand a chance long term. It's really a numbers game (finding best odds) rather than just being able to pick winners.

The odds will change slightly all the way up to the start of the fight but your odds are locked in whenever you place the bet.  So, if you bet right now at +140 it doesn't matter what the odds are at the start of the fight.

Nope, Derrick Lewis will murder him tonight.
I think he will end Cyril Gane's short lived UFC-career.

Cyril Gane will never be the same. (Brain damage)

good idea 8)
During secondary school, I tried out my school’s soccer and cross-country running teams in my second year with betting via bet365. I didn’t continue with my soccer team after a few weeks, but I kept doing cross-country through my fourth and final year of secondary school.
