His health has been declining over the past couple of years.  The last time I spoke with him before the summer he seemed to be in good spirits and actually laughed a lot.  Such a loss.

All real bbers need to befriend a MD.

BB are hilarious. "Trt." 200-250 isn't trt

200mg is the standard protocol that all HRT/TRT clinics prescribe down here.  The protocol is always :

200mg Test Cyp weekly
500ius HCG twice weekly (but most are switching to a another gonadatropin drug since they can't get HCG)
1mg arimidex weekly (it is usually compounded in with the test cyp)

100% ...

thats the exact workout he'd copy/paste in email that he used to give all people he coached imo..

I paid him for coaching 15+ years ago....

Yes, and here is the exact same diet that he would send out with the training program.  This is from 2007 I believe. All things considered, even by today's standards and all the supplements available, the training program and diet is pretty sound advice for most people.

I believe we all want to get leaner and add muscle. I am glad this is what you want also. Do not be afraid to lose a little muscle to get leaner because muscle is EASY to put back on but getting really lean is hard. Staying lean year round is the best way to approach things.

I want you to eat ONLY when hungry. Eat these nutrient grams, ok? 40 grams of carbs, 40 grams of protein, 20 grams of fat at EACH MEAL. After ten days, tell me how many meals on average you have eaten, ok? This way we can see what calorie number we have to be to keep your bodyweight the same/lose/gain.  Please weigh yourself every day at the same time.Olive/coconut/walnut oil/grass fed cattle butter for fats........... fruits/juices and green vegetables ONLY for carbs......... Lean Beef Aminos and  omega-3 eggs, chicken, milk, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, soy , grass fed beef or wild fish for protein. No powders for now. You order LBAs from trueprotein.com and use my last name ( HERNON) in discount box to get them cheaper.

1. Lean Beef Aminos
2. Kre Alkalyn-( better than monohydrate)
3. 1 Aspirin per day-81mg
4. Vitamin/mineral
5. Fish Oils-10 grams daily
6. COQ10-100 mg daily
7. DHEA...25mg morning/25mg nightly.........
8. Humanofort-200 mg before bed
You can use your BCAA on an empty stomach before training but save your money on anything else..........LBAs take that place.

Interesting.  So you have sort of an annualized periodization

I tend to do typically do about 9-12 sets per bp hitting everything 1x per week
I'm thinking about cutting the volume by about 40% and going on an every other day upper/lower split just for something different.

I did chest back and traps today and did  10 sets for chest, 11 sets for back and 6 sets for traps
I do like that amount of volume but I'm curious if lowering the volume might be novel stimulus
Years ago when Dorian was influencing everyone I did lower volume and liked it but I gradually added more volume over time and liked that too.  Sometimes I think I may be doing too much volume just because I like working out.

When I train with Phil's concept January-March, I hit each body part twice a week.  April-October I hit body parts twice every 10-11 days.  With Phils in Jan-March, I will train abs and do cardio, but no traps.  April-Oct, I will train traps but not abs or do cardio (in the gym)

I tend to choose more travel gigs towards the end of the year so if I were planning to still training with any decent weights or intensity, it would be hard doing so in hotels or on cruises.  Instead I just prefer to be "active" and not stress about missing workouts.  Interestingly enough, I tend to increase my carbs and overall calories during this time and yet never see any fat gain.

Why would you follow the diet and supplement routine of someone who died in their 50's?

Is that how you train
Just wondering

These low volume guys always intrigue me (I would put guys like Lacour and Willet in the low volume category although they did a bit more than Hernon seems to have recommended)

It's "high frequency", everything gets hit 2-4x over a 7 day period.

I paid for training w Phil and I consider it money well spent.  Was a big picture kinda guy and had a lot of training philosophies not heard else where.

No gofundme drive for Phil's loved ones?  For underprivileged kids?  For the Phil Foundation?  Surely this physique deserves a fundraiser of some kind?

It wasn't the diet that did that to his kidneys. Guy must have been going super intense on the gear in the 90s. Probably why he was too scared to make a comeback.

I don't think he died young for a bodybuilder.  Dallas McCarver died young, Phil died around the time when lifelong bodybuilders tend to go.

I am curious to see how Dorian Yates will fare, since he was one of the first to push the envelope.  Haven't heard much in the way of health issues from him yet--aside from getting beat up at an expo  :D

But Dorian didn’t care about being big afterwards. The guys that had issues or died like Nasser kept the weight on.

But Phil must’ve had kidney issues to begin with. He was a lean physique after competing with not too much on his frame that would make you think it would do him harm.

I don’t know, I think we are beginning to see the bodybuilding longevity issue at play now. My friend just died a few weeks ago of a heart attack. Both of us competed for years.

Because looking at it, it appears more sound than people who are chugging pre workouts and a variety of other things like SARMS.

Phil's kidney issues were mostly genetic.  In reality, Phil was a strong advocate for lower AAS doses.  He's responsible for many people cutting their AAS back once they hired him.

It is hard not to notice the sharp contrast between reactions to the passing of John Meadows and Phil.   John’s passing generated an huge outpouring of well wishes and condolences.  He was widely respected and people were grateful for the knowledge he shared.  Almost no one had anything negative to say about their dealings with him… despite the fact his physique was not one many people publicly admired and he never won any of the big shows.  He was well known to be invested in his role as a father and hubby. The gofundme memorial account created after his death generated $250,461.

Phil had a freaky physique for about 15 minutes and won his share trophies… but the warm wishes were few and far between and lots of negative reflections have been shared.  Virtually no comments on his family status; no gofundme memorial fund.  :-\

He may have advocated lower doses for people he was training but he was juiced to the gills.

What do you consider TRT and are you a doctor? I'm prescribed 200mg/wk of Test Cyp and my total test is around 750 ng/ml.

I only knew him from professionalmuscle forums but he was a very "difficult" personality. Antagonistic. Never knew when he was serious or just fucking around. He was very critical of various things in bodybuilding he was himself guilty of.

Maybe. I remember he said he didn't compete because he promised his kids he wasn't going back to prison. As if you risk going to prison just by juicing. You go to prison for dealing. So who knows what the real reason was. Maybe he thought you couldn't compete unless you dealt drugs, who knows. And if he was so afraid of the law how come he got involved with selling peptides?

Please show the pics of his juiced to the gills use.  He was an IFBB pro in the 90s and probably used as much as anyone else then.  He hadn't competed or trained for competition in over 20 years and his AAS use was much less.

But I will wait to see your pics and judge for myself.

Because until recently the gov't didn't give a shit about peptides.  It was the "mislabeled" compounds (chems/SARMS) that all the shops were dealing with that they were pursuing.
