I was staying in an extended stay Hotel a few years ago taking a welding class. I was hanging out with a diverse ethnic group in the evenings at the hotel enjoying Cigars and bullshitting. One day I showed up with a chain and some new Jordans they thought it was awesome. Hell when I lived in NYC I put spinners on my Vespa to fit into Harlem. Funny thing injecto-tron.....I have done MINIMAL direct bicep work over the years....yep, it really has affected me.

I use resistance bands in my training, not the bare rubber ones but heavy duty ones with material covering and proper grips.
I get a better burn, stretch, contraction and pump than  with dumbells and machines. The lactic acid buildup allowed with them is insane.
Does my muscle know the difference to that and weights?

Yet at the same time I have to agree with Hankins as to free weight curls whether with dumbbells or barbells definitely seem to build more muscle. There have been times I train hard as hell using bands or machines and my arms actually shrink a bit then when I go back to free weight they grow again. But wtf do I know? Just my personal experience.
