You don't necessarily have to be mean mugging people or staring at the ground at the gym to be training hard. It's possible to switch things off and on as you go. Some of the most brutal sessions I had involved a lot of jokes and laughter between sets and then blood pouring out the nose, fainting, temporary blindness and vomiting. What do you guys do when gym regulars come and say hello and perhaps ask you about progress and plans etc during your workout? Just ask them to shut the fuck up because you're so hardcore?
Filming sets can be a good tool as well. Some guys texting/fighting over text with bitches during the workout irritates me too, that shit can wait an hour.
But whatever works.
