10 Min Warm Up
30 min - DB Squats, DB Clean and Press, Leg Press drop sets
30 min - Alternate   30 sec walk on air runner, 30 sec either walking lunges, calf raise, or hams
30 Min - ASSAULT BIKE (Look it up Shizzo!)  -  30 sec bike - 30 sec alternate BW exercise legs and core.

I will say the leg extension machines at the two gyms I went to this last two weeka have both been selectable machines with a pin and then the seat has like a rubber cable that attaches to the leg extension part around a circular pivot and a cable to the stack some kind of pulley pivot system. The point is neither seemed to hit my quads as well as the plate loaded leg extension I have at my house. I noticed a significant difference between the plate loaded and pin selectable leg extensions. Same thing with my plate loaded leg curl vs a seated pin selectable leg curl.

I plan to train leg extension and curls at home on an different day than gym squats for this reason. I suggest anyone currently using a pin selectable machine for leg extensions or curls try a plate loaded system instead as I think there is a major difference. The plate loaded is direct there is no cables or rubber cable wrapped around a pivot the tensions seems to be much more consistent throughout the range of motion.

Try standing on a scale without the feather and manta pad and then with both so you'll be able to calculate the full squat weight.

I actually don't know. It was not a standard 45lb bar it was some kind of larger heavier squat bar at the commercial gym I joined. My mantis attachment did not fit the bar as it was thicker than standard. It also had full grooving so as to catch on the traps and back more. I wound having the bar lower on the traps neck felt better. Body seems to be getting used to the idea again rather quickly. But still doing deep narrow reps and waiting on sleeves before going much heavier. Of course it is how the knee behaves in the days after that worries me will see.

They came in the wrong size and were sent back. Again no one on this board has any patience I first mentioned squatting and ordered sleeves Oct 23rd it has literally been 2 weeks. I have squatted 3 times in those 2 weeks and hadn't squatted in the decade prior. I am going to add weight and bring down the reps but I am also going to wait for knee sleeves before going over 315. But right now my surgically repaired knees are actually doing ok 1 day post squatting. The weight is going up I actually feel I need to add in a separate leg extension day to really get the quads as I am not training anywhere near failure yet.

Sometimes is hard to believe we are dealing with someone over 40 yo.  injury prevention and avoidance is and should always be a primary concern and focus in training over 40 yo.   Makes no sense whatsoever lifting stupid heavy over 40 for heavy sake.

The name of the game is longevity, health, healthy joints, not being injured.   We all bust balls here, mercilessly.  But for real, the smart money is in avoiding ego, being smart, not doing stupid S#$% that results in injuries, etc.   If a weight is too heavy that you can't do w good form and safely - don't do it.   No one cares.   But if you are blowing out a knee or a quad and are sidelined for 6-12 months - then what?

You`re not getting 315 for 8-10 unless they are curtsey squats like all the idiots today do in all the gyms.

I squatted heavy for years.... heavy for me that is.... and they were credible poundages for a smaller guy, and I got almot zero gains and used every scenario you can think of.......today my back is a mess.

Live and learn or stay stuck on stupid.....no ones gonna laugh if you go light and actually develop your quads, which is your goal....the weights are simply tools like you are.....a means to an end.

Powerlifting training aims to increase maximal strength, especially in movements such as the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Bodybuilding training is less concerned with how much weight is lifted but aims to maximize muscle hypertrophy (growth) as much as possible.
