What was the injury (I thought you said labrum).....
Just a partial rotator tear.. Took 6 months to heal (this time)...Like most long-time lifters, bad shoulders loaded w/ scar tissue.
Yeah, I'm in a similar state - but confused - the tear can't heal, can it? I thought you just had to work around these things.
Everything heals I guess (only to a point). Doc just said "no need for surgery, just let it takes its course, it will take some time".6 months ago the empty bar hurt, now back up to where I want to be with much less pain. (Still not, and never will be, 100%).

Excellent.8 years ago had each should have a distal clavicle excision (cut cm off each end) and subacromial decompression. That ended my issues.....until recently went in for pain, and have a non specific labrum tear and some RC fraying in the right.So, I can do close grip stuff and neutral grip viking press stuff without pain, but a regular bench or DB in the wrong path hurts, so I'm going to amp up the RC exercises and stick with the close grip only for a bit.

Yeah, normal DBell bench hurts and a normal bench still hurts, I do them fairly close with hands right at edge of where knurl starts.For DBell bench, I start in bottom position w/ hands facing each other (almost like a flye) and at the top I end with palms facing FWD (like a normal DBell press) then lower in same fashion (palms facing).Like you said, work-around it...
