The physical part has to be a given, its the mental part where shit gets real.   Everyone can be a superstar for an hour - but what about 24+ hours after you already worked all day and now have to grind that out?   Time to sack the F up.

From Friday night at 7 pm to midnight Sat - 2 am ish Sunday - carry logs, sandbags, people, endless PT, water immersions, beat downs, 40+ miles of carrying a 40lb+ pack, etc

Would love to do something like that (eventually) but my 5’6 228lb ass at 60 would have to drop 20-30lbs even tho I’m fairly lean. My conditioning is horrible

Great advice for being unathletic and unhealthy.

This assumes you are working out hard.  I know it's hard for many to believe but overtraining is a big reason for lack of growth in those first bitten by the iron bug. These days though I gotta drag my ass to the gym

Yes, but even working out hard by lifting weights does shit for being in running/athletic shape.

In the context of first timers trying to "getbig", sure.  For overall folks, not good.

Jesus man, sounds insane. My back and knee's are toast after our daily 1-hour walk.
Though, amazingly, after taking a week of from heavy deadlifts, the back is like brand-new.  :P
Who would have thought.

I think if you're working out hard AND keeping your rest time between sets to less than a minute you can get in excellent cardiovascular shape and do well in aerobic activites i.e. running, sprinting, soccer etc...

If you're talking about the kind of stuff Soul Crusher is doing though, thats a totally different beast.

September 07 2022

Did something offbeat today just to alleviate boredom.....did 50 reps on everything,but just one set......did as many as possible then took 10-15 deep breaths and kept going.....repeated this until I reached the 50 rep mark

Shoulders,Arms,Forearms:

Seated Kettlebell Laterals - 1 X 50....did 35,stopped and eked the next 15....pretty tough
Seated Dumbell Curls- 1 X 50....did 20 then it was 10 at a time until I hit 50
Seated French Press - 1 X 50....did 20 then it was 10 at a time until I hit 50

Super-Set:
{Reverse Curls - 3 sets 12-15
{Barbell Wrist Curls - 3 sets 30,20,15

Had to stop and listen to my bodys feedback.....needed something like this as I am sore and tired....rest day tomorrow.

Disagree.

That stuff does not translate well to running at all.

Most lifters would be gassed if they tried to run a sub 8min mile even after training like that.

I tend to agree here. Training the way 'breakdoctor' mentioned can get you into better shape, yes.
But running is just another animal.

Back, legs, cardio, shins, just getting used to the pounding on the pavement or trails takes conditioning.
I suck bad at it outside.
Do "OK" on a treadmill, but that is also another (easier) animal... (Than running outside).
