The tem being "in shape" just doesn`t constitute being lean.....being extremely lean in contest condition does not mean that you can lift heavy,run 5 miles,swim a decent distance,run a half marathon, climb a rock climbing wall,box 12 rounds,etc. etc.
Lots of people who you might think look like shit can run a marathon in good time,do a backflip,box professionally at a high level,lift huge poundagers,be an Oympic swimmer,and yet have no visible abdominal development what so ever.......all these attributes put them in a class that would be called being in shape,just not contest shape for bodybuilding.
Try an Iron Man event or do a decathalon event sometime if you can spare time away from a Chinese take out restaraunt or a sub shop.
