Where to start.. Definitely not my favorite of the Matrix movies.

Pros:
  • Action scenes were decent, but unfortunately very limited throughout the movie.
Cons:
  • Storyline/plot sucked
  • The acting was not good
  • There were a lot of fluff characters that did not to be in the movie (tons of overly effeminate computer geeks)
  • Keanu Reeves is finally showing signs of aging and that didn't lend itself well when surrounded by much younger actors
  • The WOKE aspect of the movie (making Trinity an equal to NEO in her abilities/powers) sucked. NEO is no longer "the one" if in fact there is now "a second".
Sadly, the entire movie seemed incredibly rushed. I think the Wachowski sisters definitely put the final nail on this coffin. I'd probably rate it a 4/10.

If you're a diehard Matrix fan, this will surely be a tremendous letdown.

Thank you, brother.  I shall avoid it like the plague of the woke it is.  Please accept my Cashew Holy Day greetings to you and your family.   It  has been a weird year this one.

I mean, it just doesn't seem like it fits into the Matrix series. But don't go solely by my standards Scott, I tend to be a harsh critic. If you do catch it at any point, I'd like to read your take.

Happy Holidays my friend!

The director things are obviously fixated on duality and dimorphism in everything they can apply it to....call it bimorphism.

For Sequels and Remakes in this woke time we live in, it was decent. It was NEVER going to be as good as the originals but it is worth watching if your a fan of the series. The first half is slow but the second half is good. A lot of cheesy characters that are not necessary but it is what it is. Im sure they will make another 2 movies if this does well.

Keanu seems to be stuck just doing sequels now from previous successful movies.

I don't know who was responsible for the first movie(not bearded ladies), but it was amazing for the time.

Plato. It's the parable of the cave with VR instead of firelight shadowpuppetry.

Although adorned with zowie effects and topical candies like computerism and pharmaceuticals, it hit because it addressed man's yearning for Parmededian truth in a world of deceitful appearance. This dovetails with the synthesis of ancient thought and the Christian Neo-Platonic ethos, where what's true is immaterial, eternal, and righteous, while the earthly, material, sensual world is more than just an unreliable guide. It's evil because it's actively trying to trick you and keep you from seeing the actual truth of yourself and the world. So it's no surprise that Neo [Platonism] is mated to Trinity. Get it? That's pretty fucking good.

The first film was so philosophically informed that I have a hard time believing the two crossdressing fruitcakes who made the sequels didn't shoot the original author in the head and assume credit for it.

Zero interest to see this one.

It's rare that sequels are better than the original movie. The first Matrix movie was unmatchable given the freshness of the story line.

Any examples of sequels  that were better than the original ? Or as good? I thought Terminator 2 was as good as Terminator 1.

The first 15 minutes were so bad i purposely fell asleep. When i woke up both of my friends said it was terrible. No, they didnt do anything while i was asleep. The fight scenes i did see were like they belonged in a b movie.

Like most people, I loved the first one - and managed to be genuinely surprised by what the Matrix was.  But it was a beautifully wrapped one-off - the sequels were terrible.  I've got some basic psychology and philosophy under my belt but the Architect scene lost me.  And the courtyard cartoon..?  LOL

I've jumped a lot of this thread to avoid spoilers, but I've gone ahead and downloaded the thing.  Upgrading the TV on Tuesday so was looking forward to checking this out on there

But now I'm trying to decide now whether to watch or not... I'm conflicted, dammit! ;D

Not as conflicted as the directors and their sexuality.

I give it a 3/10.  In addition to OMR's accurate review above, it really felt like it was made with material if was not blatantly recycled over again, was material that ended up on the cutting room floor from the first Matrix.

Neo fighting Morpheous.
Agents escaping their programming.
An all seeing "oracle" type person.
Motorcycle scenes.
Neo getting his ass whipped by the agent.
etc
etc

They basically turned Neo into a Jedi at this point with Force based powers of a force field, deflection, and projection.  It was a one trick pony that he wore out by doing it four dozen times at the end.  Also, in the previous Matrix movies, he could freeze bullets in the air with no effort at all.  Here he acted like he was giving birth to a cactus.

Morpheous sucked.  Was this man supposed to be a pimp at a 1970s golf course?

Agent Smith was hit and miss, you could see glimpses of the brilliance of the original Agent Smith at times, but the iconic "Mr.  Anderson..." announcement that meant bad ass, ass kickery was about to go down was just not there.

The Merv (Exiles leader) was excellent.  He should win an Academy for the best monologue in movies this year.  "People used to TALK.... now they just *mimics text messaging*...."

But at least we didn't have to see Trinity do her little "kick" that was overused in the last three movies so much.  Points for that.

In other news, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is breaking box office records.

There's no gay, tranny, feminist, or racial nonsense.  There is no lecturing or shaming the viewers.  It's just a good old fun movie.

Could it be because it's a movie by Japanese owned Sony and not by woke Disney/Marvel?

Umm. Trinity did use her little kick. It was the first move she did when she decided to go with Neo and her husband turned to a zombie agent.

I mean the one where she jumps up in the air, and hangs for like 28 1/2 minutes while everyone just stares and then kicks them.

Accurate.  #3 was god awful.

I've never seen so much as one minute of any of the Matrix movies.  Perhaps I should give the original one a go?
