Author Topic: Just Watched Ward vs. Gatti 1,2,and 3 !! (Read 4752 times)

Today was literally the first day I tried squatting without the pad. I am still working out my technique and form. I first said I could do it October 23rd. I got my knee sleeves like 3 weeks later and joined a gym in late November. I believe I could then and can now. I am simply testing that theory by adding weight each week to be smart. The legs are strong the knees are a little sketchy. It will take a few more weeks to finish testing the theory. But I have not failed yet. The theory is still valid. Just wait until next week we will all have our answers soon.

@Brian - how much of a chance would you give Artur Beterbiev against you in a scrap? He is the current Light Heavyweight Champion of the world (175lbs for those who don't follow boxing)?

To be fair it's not unreasonable to favor a wrestler over a pure boxer in a street fight IMO.

Agreed. Artur is a world class athlete (top of da food chain) though and walks around at 190lbs. Also, it is important to note that he was born in Dagestan and is of Chechen descent. Which is relative because grappling is pretty much bred into guys from that region.

You act like I would try to box him. I am just going to come in with my hands up at full speed and then lower my level last second and double leg him. If I can grab him even better I will throw him. I am not going to even pretend to try and box him. He is a young strong fighter but I would still have a considerable weight advantage on him he fights 175 and maybe walks 190 so about 30lbs if I show up a lean mean 220. I think my wrestling wins but if I can't keep him down and I am winded standing in front of him trying to box then yes I would be in trouble. But I am pretty confident could get him down and keep him there. I am not going to try and box him.

All points I agree on but I am still the larger and I believe better grappler but if he has some grappling exp it would obviously get more difficult but still I take him down and keep him there

I used him as an example ~~knowing~~ assuming that he probably has some basic, fundamental grappling skills. Solid reply though.

One of the coolest things about the early ufc was that fighters weren't cross trained and you'd see boxer versus karate etc. I miss that part of it. But yeah if he's Chechen he can probably grapple.

Boxing is not fighting these guys have no idea how to stop a takedown and beating and even if they did they can't against a larger opponent who can wrestle at a high level. Me vs De la hoya would not be a competitive fight in anyway I would smash him in about 30 seconds flat it would be over in under 45 seconds. He is a small old frail boxer he would have 0 chance of lasting 1 minute

why do you keep pretending you can fight?
You have had 2 MMA fights and lost 2, even those were not real fights, a ref in the ring menas you follow the rules

The others werent fights either they were wrestling matches with strict rules

I have had over a dozen cage and ring fights and hundreds of wrestling matches on a national and international level. I qualified for the US Team trials wrestling for the Army in Europe before getting deployed to a war I didn't just do a little wrestling. I have even won a BJJ tourney. Strict rules lol again no idea how you dumb fucks don't realize a 225lb wrestler is going to smash a 140-180lb boxer. Oh yeah I am also in shape

I actually posted some newspaper articles about me a link to a state title and my German trophies and my BJJ trophy. Sorry I am old and competed before everyone had cell phones with cameras.

Also again you guys are putting me against people I outweigh by 30-80lbs who have no idea how to grapple. Even if I was the worst 225lb state champ collegiate wrestler and Army wrestler in the world I would still win just on basic wrestling and size alone. Throw in my physicality and the fact that I was good and its a joke they are too small and have the wrong skillset. I am not saying I will beat a UFC guy my size I won't but a boxer I outweigh by 50lbs all day everyday

They are 140lbs they are not going to KO me with one shot if I keep my hands up coming in on a double leg. You telling me they are going to Ben Askren flying knee me?
