What does it mean?
Twitter was acquired by Elon Musk's Xcorp to circumvent censorship and make it one aspect of "X", the everything app. Free speech and Musk's new business model are intertwined.
Activist groups(ADL, SPLC), advertisers, and app stores are the 3 biggest free speech roadblocks for social media platforms. Musk is changing the name of Twitter to X and making it a subsidiary of a much larger company. "Twitter-X" will expand beyond being a micro-blog to being just one aspect of an app that handles everything, like macro-blogs, video, livestreaming, digital transactions, encrypted communications, storefronts, etc... Musk has to circumvent the Apple app store and change from the current advertiser-based revenue source of Twitter to circumvent activist calls for censorship, which pressure advertisers to stop advertising.
