Almost all architectural periods have pluses and minuses. If you are referring to the plethora of developer built McMansions littering neighborhoods, I'd agree. In the day, Frank Loyd Wright's buildings were considered modern architecture. His originality and groundbreaking designs greatly influenced residential and commercial architecture forever.

There are elements of the Zimmerman house which have inspired many homes built over decades.
