

That was exposed as a result of lowering water levels but there's a cottage industry of Youtube channels solving multiple cold cases by using imaging equipment to comb lakes and other bodies of water for vehicles and bodies.
(Edit: Disclaimer. I just picked a random video from the channel to illustrate one of several Youtubers that are making a living retrieving missing people from bodies of water in the US. I hadn't even seen that particular video myself. What's interesting about the idea is that they often find submerged cars with bodies surprisingly close to where the victims live, in areas where you'd think people would have noticed a car crash, in shallow but just deep enough water to cover a car, and in water where police have already searched. )
