One of the first instances of cancel culture that I remember was a baseball player named John Rocker. Im not a huge baseball fan but I seem to remember this guy was a prospect? Or maybe pretty early in his pro career. And he was asked 'what if you're drafted by New York' or something like that and his response was I don't want to raise kids in New York.its full of a bunch of homo's, freaks weirdos etc..

He didn't recover.
