People can get tested for DNA ancestry on 23andme, ancestry.com etc. Ashkenazi is definitely testable. I think others are too. I don't think any other "religion" is like that. You can quote google like prime or you can accept that there is more nuance. There is an ethnicity with matrilineal heritage or however you want to phrase it.I'm no expert but I think the simplest explanation is that most who identify as Jews originated from the same place (maybe Israel, maybe the Caucasus and probably very controversial to try to figure out) and did not assimilate. I could be wrong, but that's what I gather.
