Hmm, haven't tried that, but I have ordered a large Coca Cola through McDonald's drive thru before heading to the gym.

"1"

Their Coca Cola fountain drinks is the best.

Did you remove all the pickles so you didn't get edema again from them?

Ground breaking stuff hanky.

So I am heading to the gym and needed a little energy. But I also want to stay trim and lean. So what I  do is I order a Big Mac and a Doubke cheeseburger I then remove the him from the double cheeseburger and add the patties to the Big Mac. Thus making my own double Big Mac I then throw away the double cheeseburger bun to reduce my carb intake and stay shredded. This is a rather extreme reduction of carbs and increase in protein and should only be attempted for a brief period by advanced athletes .@Science

McDonald's has the best coffee. I could drink that shit by the gallon. Best pre workout supplement available.

x2 I always thought McD's coffee was very good for fast-food coffee, much better than Starbucks.

You can order hamburgers without the bun at MacDonald's saving yourself the trouble of having to peel it off. Next time, order the grilled chicken sandwich without the bun... less fat.

Bad diet, high carb low calories is best for bodybuilding..

^This. When you go low carb your energy levels drop like a rock. So you now don't have the ability to work out as intensely.

I did strict keto for a year. Hated it- dragged ass in energy levels. Went later to a high carb but lower calorie diet (2300-2500 cal a day) and found I lean out with zero loss in function.

This, btw, is the True Adonis approach, lol

You guys are all wrong.

hanky knows more than anyone on the planet about nutrition.

That extra fat without the "unnecessary" carbs creates an anabolic environment that is 347.786% greater than Steroids.

He probably smoked some weed before eating that meal, which skyrocketed his GH levels to astronomical levels.

Just watch him "blown up from within" by 9pm tonight.

Cocoon of growth approved!

Back in the day the kid I trained with would hit Mickey Dees and order ten burgers with no buns.....we would hit a restaurant and the waitress would take my order.....then she`d ask my buddy what he wanted and he would just ask for a glass of water.

After we got my food and his water, this muthafucker would go into his ever present gym bag and pull out a ziplock bag with a dozen hard boiled egg and also a quart of milk, and two or three banana......he ate constantly, brought food with him anywhere he went .....this was just one of the combos he ate in restaurants.....people always stared at him and he would just tell them to eat and mind their business.....they always did cuz he was freaking huge with incredible lifts.

Definitely! Starbucks is highly sugared shit.

This depends on what you order. You can order black coffee or espresso from Starbucks neither of which have any sugar, milk or cream. Plain lattes have steamed milk, but no sugar. Order flavored a latte and you get sugar. For a supposedly delicious but unhealthy drink order the Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino Blended Coffee which has 510 calories, dusted with a nice layer of cinnamon and sugar.

Protein is converted to glucose via gluconeogenesis, a highly inefficient process. Just eat the fucking sugar, lol  I swear, keto is right up there with global warming and get the jab.

79 cents is amazing. A local restaurant called Biscuits which only serves breakfast and lunch, charges $3.00 for a cup of coffee (maybe even more now since their online menu doesn't include pricing). It's a good-sized cup and you can have all the refills you want. Not that it is a good idea to load up on that much caffeine.

My kids gave me a Keurig coffee maker for my birthday. It's great. Makes a fresh cup of coffee in about 30 seconds. I bought a box of 48 Keurig Pete's coffee pods for $30 yesterday. So it is convenient, but not exactly cheap. You can buy ground coffee to fill a reusable pod for less, but that kind of defeats the convenience factor.

This is what’s weird to me. I’m on keto and have been for many months and my workouts are better than ever and I walk 10-15 miles a day. I don’t understand it and I don’t take any stimulants at all and I don’t drink coffee.

two questions if you don't mind

1.  What does a typical day of eating look like ?
2.  How do you have the the time to walk 10-15 miles everyday in addition to training with weights.  If you walk at ~ 4 miles an hour you're looking at 2.5 to 3.75 hours of walking every day.  Do you do that all at once or break it up?

A lot depends on your rep range. When you are on keto your muscles don't store anywhere near as much glycogen- that is why you drop 10+ pounds the first week on keto because as the glycogen goes, so does stored water. When glycogen is low you don't have the sugars available for recharging the muscles very fast.

That being said, if your rep range is ~10 or less it is predominately creatine phosphate that is driving the exercise, not glycogen. So you really wouldn't see much of a drop in energy on keto unless you are doing sets with very little rest between. If you did higher reps you would because that is driven glycolytically.

As for walking- the intensity is so low that it is primarily driven by fat oxidation. Again - you wouldn't see much of a difference. As soon as you start running you will find you are limited.

I did a bicycle race series while in keto and had no problem hanging in when the pack was riding steady. As soon as they accelerated I was dying and could no longer keep up. This series was a week long and on the third day I said "screw keto" and went out and bought every sugary thing I could find. Within 2 days I was finishing in the top 10 and actually was contending for victory several times.

I think you are correct in explaining this.

Most people, even bodybuilders, don't get into a range of fatigue where being on keto becomes a factor in glucose production.

Competitive cycling, distance running, and other highly aerobic activities use glucose up too fast for keto to be sufficient.
