The best time to be up is between 2 and 7 am. Everything is quiet and you can get shit done.

Yep, that's when I do most of the bulglaries

this is acting...

Yeah, done by a child with essentially no “training” or experience.

Difficult “craft”.

Hahahahahahaha

Anyway, his alleged prodigious talent didn’t translate much past that one role, really, did it. Something to that, I’d say. Like, great roles with great dialogue in a great movie never again came a-knockin’. All things for which a thespian has zero input or credit of creation.

I was in the drama class in high school for a semester and there were several who always put on a show of similar ability for every production.

“Acting”

Why? He inhabits his characters in their roles.

I guess I’ll never understand this “good/bad actor” thing.

I’ve seen bad acting. But a majority, freeing themselves of being self-concious, act perfectly fine. “Exceptional acting” usually is simply a particular individual’s look and personality meshing well with a particular role. And great dialogue (not a product of the actor) and a liked personality.

Meryl Streep in The Bridges of Madison County strikes me as good acting plus a little extra.

However, perfectly serviceable acting would appear to be mostly attainable by most anyone, with a few exceptions.

Kids who’ve never acted act. Rappers act. Pop stars act. EVERYONE acts.

When I think of good actors, I think of Anthony Hopkins, Denzel Washington, Daniel Day Lewis, Christian Bale, Kevin Spacey, Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones.

When I think of crappy actors, I think of Sean Penn, Jaden Smith, 50 Cent, Kirk Cameron, Tyler Perry, Pauly Shore etc.

Mark Wahlberg has always struck me as a good entertainer overall. He was fun to watch when he rapped with the funky bunch. He was entertaining as the face of Calvin Klein for a few years. He was entertaining in a few movie roles. He has hosted a few shows and was pretty good as well. Every time he does videos on social media they're pretty good. He never stood out as a good actor to me, but as an entertainer that acts. Again, it depends on what you consider good acting.

The "greatest" actors, here defined as most bankable, usually play the same character personality in all their films.

DeNiro, Wayne, Eastwood, Bruce Willis, The Rock, Gary Cooper, Stallone, etc.  all the same in every movie.

Yup.  I agree completely.

I was watching a commentary done by Morgan Freeman. Freeman spoke very highly of Gene Hackman and it was pretty clear that Freeman considered Hackman a very good actor.

Wow - that's high praise indeed, coming as it does from a former UN Secretary General  8)

Not hating on the guy but I really don't see why you'd need a place that big. Unless you wanted to move in your friends and extended family too - which a lot of the filthy rich seem to do. It'd be nice to have my own well equipped gym and tennis court though.

One thing that gets me when I see clips like this...there's so much money spent on building this impressive house but I sit there thinking "It looks like a standard drywall/wooden frame construction with single pane glass everywhere.". I mean, if you can afford a house like that, why not do it properly and build it with good insulation?

Mark was in “Three Kings”, “Contraband”, “The Italian Job”, and “Shooter”. From those roles alone, he showed enough grit and determination to let us all know that 9/11 was preventable (if he had been on those planes).

  • Do or do not. There is no try.
Drywall, particle board sheathing, same as any other house.

All those luxury extras add up but no where near what he's asking.

He'll probably get close to it.

Heckuva house.  Unreal like a palace.

Best house I've seen.  Crazy.

Ordinary people see this kind of stuff and their expectations become unrealistic.

Real estate prices are insane right now.

House is awesome, but honesty I like the outside stuff better than the inside.

Wahlberg's a hard worker, produces a ton of shit, and is doing cool shit.  He has it down to a science.

He's been in more than 3 good movies so that's just silly.  He also turned down the Backstreet Boys, which is a pretty crazy decision, which worked out well.

But of course, he was a racist southie douche who has done a lot of bad shit, so who really knows if he's changed at his core or not.

I had no idea what good insulation meant until I moved to Germany. I can spot it pretty quickly now. What I saw from the inside of that house didn't seem to be anything especially different from a standard build. More of it, sure. Nicely done, sure. But same technique. And the glass most definitely doesn't look triple glazed.
