For me - 1:40.

I've done it three times recently, and went from 1:30 to 1:40. I may have gotten more than that as a kid - but I can't recall the specifics. I'm certain it was around there. I don't recall ever holding my breath for two minutes.

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking into David Blaine's 17 minute breath hold, and I know he uses some special techniques - but that's crazy to me. David Blaine has pushed his body in some ways that blow my mind. He told Joe Rogan that he could get Joe up to 4 minutes just with 20 minutes of training. I'd be curious what those techniques are.

Is breath holding capacity a sign of anything? Just lung capacity? Or does it reflect on heart capacity too?

I must say - for the last 30 seconds leading up to that 1:40, I find it gets pretty uncomfortable. There's probably some mental strategy to beat that - to overcome that desire to breathe is probably a mental thing. Though I have no idea how to get to 4 minutes. It may require hyperventilating before doing it - but I don't know what those techniques are.

Works better if you tie a plastic bag around your head...

I know records are meant to be broken, but...

When I was younger I held my breath under water for I believe 2 minutes
Haven’t really tested as an adult but as a teen I dove into a olympic sized pool ( 50m, so around 145’ish? ) and went the whole lenght underwater.
No idea how long it took but I am no swimmer so I’d guess around 2 mins?

A 50 m swim for a swimmer is under 20 seconds. Even if you are not a strong swimmer it's still nowhere near 2 minutes more like 30-40 seconds. A 50m lap under water though is very good.

No limit assisted weighted sled diving is a good way to die most freedivers swim down and back up on their own accord

I'd bet a grand that if the pussy was hairy enough and fishy enough you'd be able to hold your breath a half hour.  Easily.

David Blaine seems full of BS

Here's a legit athlete doing a 24min. He inhaled pure oxygen just before the stunt but still...

What amaze me is how he didn't have an issue after the 24min

Why would I hold my breath doing that?  ;D

Just tried it and suprised myself and did 2 minutes on the dot. Remember trying it when i was 10 years younger but around 35-40 lbs heavier and could only do right above 1 minuter. Maybe i willed it more now, but probably less weight to oxygenate aswell.

Ok. Maybe a minute then. Easy relaxed breast stroke near the bottom. I find it easier to hold my breath while actively being under water rather than just staying still or even worse just trying it on a dry land.
