The Autist view is much easier to deal with this topic.
Birth rate has been falling for ages and is only getting worse being compounded by the fuck tonne of old people getting older who hoard all the wealth and make young people poor so they can’t afford kids.
It’s policy to assist with population control to ensure we don’t have 200yrs to extinction. the govt would rather have a baby alive to grow into a productive person for the country than them not being born into possibly bad circumstances.
If explained like the above it’d be easier for people to accept because we can’t agree on which moral stance is correct. “Due to shrinking population and decimation of birth rates, we are cancelling the abortion option”. No longer a moral argument and now a maths/population/sustainability argument.
Yes!

Great way to put it, Mayday.
China had to eventually do away with its One Child policy, because they had to think about the practical impacts of it.
We can't just abort everyone away, in all circumstances. There are times when the costs of "forcing" women into taking responsibility for getting pregnant outweigh the violations of their "rights" to get unlimited free abortions [here in Canada - at least in the USA, people have to pay].
I'm also confused about why I am required to feel sorry for women who got pregnant and want an abortion. Do women have so little personal autonomy that they are unable to use birth control? I have NEVER had sex, while not being willing to take full responsibility for a potential child.
But to expect the same of women is "oppressing" them?

I'm sorry, but even if I am technically pro-choice, I will never actively support or condone abortion. W
I think women who require abortions are irresponsible. They had every opportunity to take precautions against pregnancy and didn't do so.
I'd be against taking away the right to medical care of drunk drivers who get into car accidents and require it. But if that right WAS taken away, you wouldn't hear me say "IT'S THEIR RIGHT! RAH! RAH!"
We make it sound like women needing abortions are victims, when 99% of them could have taken birth control to prevent it. They aren't "victims".

At least the majority of times.
