Man, the early 90's were fucking awesome.
I remember Dorian came on the scene and looked crazy at the NOC but lost to Benezziza. Padilla also looked unbelievable that year. Then Kevin turned pro and I remember back then Kevin was unreal, huge legs, huge arms and absolutely diced. Then Flex turned pro and at that time 92, 93 looked like he had the craziest genetics ever. And I was curious how this was going to play out at the Olympia. These guys just started looking more and more unbelievable. Then the Olympia comes around and there's Dillet who ends up being the freakiest looking bodybuilder Ive ever seen. And between all of them -overnight- bodybuilding just changed. Just a whole other level. In my mind bodybuilding went from something that I 'could' do, if I really dedicated myself, to something that was totally unattainable and I stopped following the sport for a few years. Then in 98 or 99 I picked up a Flex magazine and saw Ronnie Coleman. I think I actually laughed out loud and just set the magazine back down.
