It's very difficult to obtain a gun in Mexico legally, but very easy to obtain one illegally.

My GF is from Mexico and her family always talks shit about gun violence in the States. When Mexico's stats are far worse and that is not even with them reporting the honest truth of it. They hide it from the world and even inside their own country. Unless some rogue reporter breaks the story, the Mexican government will sweep it under the rug in many situations.

A few weeks ago, there were a bunch of cartels uprising in several cities, hundreds of people were shot and killed, innocent random people. They didn't even hardly publicize any of this, mainly the American news covered it.

This happens on a weekly basis there and you never hear about it. A lot of the crime statistics in these third world shitholes is not very accurate, it's actually much worse.
