Fasted or not doesn’t make a difference. But aside from that I do it mostly for conditioning. Walk, ruck, sprint sand berms in front of the house. Kongo is here so I’ll roll with him, rampage, Dillishaw and my son in a rotation until I die once or twice a week

Each day Fortress climbs 16-20 floors to help maintain a healthy heart/BP.

The stairwell is directly beside my front door.

Slap on some metal and JAM.

I used to work on the 8th floor and took the stairs every morning, at lunch and every night.

Great workout.

I typically hike 2-3 days a week for a couple hours and have marathon sex with my GF Fri/Sat/Sun.

Keeps me in shape.

Once it warms up i'll mountain bike after work a couple days.

When i was into BBing i never could do fasted cardio or morning cardio in general. My workouts were always fast paced and i lost fat through dieting.

What is the GB consensus on cardio?

Fasted or non-fasted?

Does it waste muscle?

Steady state or intervals?

Running or Bikes/rowing/jumping rope?

What is the best time and method?

What is the benefit?

Bodybuilders used to run. Someone said Mentzer ran for up to 10 miles.

I want to incorporate some form of cardio for better heart health/ blood pressure. And I don't want to end up looking anorexic.

After weight training in the morning or afternoon, I walk on a motorless treadmill which has a slight, permanent incline.  I walk 30 minutes at least 5 days a week, while streaming my favorite series or movies.

I do this only for general good health, and absolutely not to lose fat or keep it off.

I can and do lose fat and keep it off very easily with eating habits alone, a very meat heavy keto diet.

I eat when I'm hungry and until I'm full.  So I'll exercise on an empty stomach sometimes, and other times I'll exercise an hour or so after eating.

Thats an ass kicker. Even at a normal pace. How long does that take? 10 - 12 mins?

Approximately, yes. It’s four floors, so I walk down and then back up, repeating four to five times.

Like I say, some metal in my ears and it’s short work. But feels great.

I used to run the bleaches at the college before I fucked myself up.......fucking brutal !

These days I just walk when weather permits and train with very brief rest periods.

I want the cardiovascular benefits without losing muscle.

Stay hydrated and measure your weight, biceps and waist multiple times a day for a few weeks to suss shit out and be at one with your beautiful body.

I've always been para about losing muscle from playing sport, long walks.....
I'm pretty sure it doesn't make much of a difference. You won't lose muscle by walking for 42 minutes.
Lack of food is a bigger muscle killer.
You can shrink a bit temporarily after a long brutal workout (mostly glycogen depletion and dehydration I reckon) but then bounce right back after eating, drinking, listening to Pantera..

I remember back in the 16th century (no Wes) when I first started lifting and would bench for over an hour straight and notice I'd eventually lose my pump, look/get more and more deflated the longer I benched for after a certain point..

When you barbell bench too long, you become the barbell.
Be water and glycogen my friend. Not barbell.
Empty your mind and fill your body with steroids.

I agree after a certain number of sets the pump will dissipate......the key is to find out the amount of volume needed for hypertrophy for each bodypart.....which is never ending because we need more or less depending on certain factors as we age.

its pretty much useless for fat loss, an hour on a bike is the equivalent of three cookies.

Easier to not eat three cookies and do something productive with the hour.

x4

"Love" seeing fat pigs go for walks around the block for "exercise".
You just know:
- they think they're gonna get in shape from it
- they will eat cookies when they get back home as a reward for "working out so hard".

Lose 100 calories worth
then eat 300 calories

"WHY aren't I losing weight?!! ??? :'("

Ran a few marathons in my 20's and a couple dozen 5-10K's. In my 30's did cardio on the treadmill after weights. Now I walk everyday which includes a big hill.

When I stop doing any cardio my BP starts to climb. Parents both went on BP and statins in their early 40's and I was heading down that path before starting cardio back up. It definitely makes a huge difference.

If you train regularly with weights then you surely know you have to train regularly for results..why should cardio be any different?
It's the accumulation of regular cardio that yields results & the body definitely responds.

Yes x2 this is a misconception many plebes have about exercise.  Weightloss / “burning fat” is all about diet.

If someone is doing ~nothing then gradually builds up to 10+ hours per week of serious cardio then yes they will get lighter/leaner (look at your average competitive triathlete body) but most people aren’t going to do anywhere near that much.

10+ hours?
Obviously you've never done proper cardio & just repeat garbage some fatso told you .
You can get great results with 30 mins hard interval training 3=4 times a week.
Walking for hours on a treadmill is not needed. Indeed I have had very fruitful results using a Crosstrainer  for the durations I stated. Of course you need to break sweat & use intensity.
Works for me.

yes and when to train them again.

If you put volume into a bodypart, it becomes the pump.
Be like hypertrophy, my friend.

I’m talking about triathletes, fool.  10 hours/wk is just getting started in that world, and there’s no walking involved.
