This "very sentimental dad's chair" is exactly the kind of excuse I'm talking about. Maybe true, may be technically true (like it was something from dad's house but nothing really sentimental about that), maybe a flatbread lie, but it distracts from the real issue which is "why are the arms so torn up and it looks so shitty"? Then some BS ad hoc rationalization is offered to paper over the crack in the wall.
Don't you have $100 to not dishonor your father's memory and get the arms fixed?
