Unfortunately I am going to have to agree with Jeff here. If you have 20lbs of fat on a 200lb body you are 10% bodyfat, If you add 10lbs of water you are now 210lbs with the same 20lbs of fat but you are now only 9.5% bodyfat. Additionally if you are eating you will have more glucose in your muscle which again is not fat but real weight. If you are hydrated and fully carbed you will be heavier but with a lower bodyfat. You can't gain fat in a day you can add 10lbs of fluid and carbs.

never the less, the more water you carry the lower your BF %

If you compete dry at 4% BF and thgen 3 days later fully recomped with food and water you will not have gained any fat but your BF% will be lower due to the added water and glycogen in the muscles

Someone who looks smooth may well have a lower BF% than someone dry and shredded.

But what are you drinking it's not just the water it's the electrolytes (salt) and how much carbs are you eating the carbs and salt are what pull the fluid into the muscle and make you retain it. If you are just flushing water you are not as hydrated and holding as much fluid as someone who is chugging Gatorade and eating rice.
