The one I don't get is the Nargeolet guy. He had so much experience. He HAD to know this was a foolish idea.I guess because Titan had gone down to the Titanic twice before he assumed it was good to go again.

Cameron is a dickhead but he's pretty knowledgeable about subs and deep sea exploration.  He said it was unthinkable that Nargeolet would've died in such a contraption.

Stockton's belief that regulation stifles innovation is probably correct to a degree but he played with other people's lives unfortunatel. Ironically this will cause so much more regulation.

On a side note, these names 'Stockton'  'Hamish' just reek of wealth and arrogance.

I’ve been to Stockton a few times and it didn’t seem very wealthy to me.

Surely the waiver can be waivered and families can sue if corners have been cut.
The question is why is a company allowed to operate without certification?

No one has jurisdiction in those parts of the water or something. You can do anything out there on a boat or this case a sub.

Are you saying,

“Sign the waiver?”

That is reminiscent of Getbig folklore from days long past.

Death was mentioned three times on the Waiver and the sub was described as highly experimental.  I think from a legal point of view the company is covered.

When I went skydiving the first time I had to sign a waiver and read it aloud for a video recording.  Part of it basically stated that, if I die, the the skydiving business could sue my estate.

Probably both had bigger cocks then he did, and he was jealous, might as well take them both out while you can

I wouldn't get into a sub even if was close tp 100% safe. Claustrophobia. I can hardly manage an x-ray (you slide in to that tube). I need a benzo but even that doesn't help 100%.

I have nightmares of being buried alive. Worst way to go.

I don't see the fascination of viewing the wreck at all. When Estonia sank a couple of divers went down to film and were then convicted in court. After that I think they poured concrete on it, concrete coffin.

it's novelty seeking, it's what rich people do because they're bored

Yeah, I would opt for something aerial though haha. Like flying with a bodysuit. That seems so cool.

People are fascinated by the Titanic just look at how many people saw the movie.  It was such a preventable disaster and maybe that's the fascination.  The captain had a telegraph that he was heading into ice bergs on a dark new moon night were icebergs would not be visible. And he exercised terrible judgement and a steamed right into the iceberg field.  It's just such a cautionary tale of what not to do.
