How does an opioid antagonist reverse the effects of septic shock?

Narcan [naloxone] has a higher binding affinity at the µ-opioid receptor than almost any other opiate/opioid. That is why it reverses the effects of other opioids, because it competitively displaces them - essentially rips them off the receptors, and reverses/erases their effects temporarily. So if someone is in respiratory depression from an opioid overdose [Chris Farley], Narcan can get them out of it. More cocaine would have also likely saved Farley's life [temporarily]. But it also throws opioid dependent people [physically addicted opioid users] into precipitated withdrawal.

As far as I am aware, it doesn't do much of anything to people who are not actively on opioids.

narcan is not the first line of treatment to treat hypotension in septic shock..... first line of treatment in septic shock is antibiotics within an hour of the patient arriving to the ER and then norepinephrine is the first line vasopressor used for hypotension....... narcan is a very short acting medication .. unless a drip... which doesn't make sense anyway... so maybe they gave her a shit ton of narcan....  boom.. flash pulmonary edema... hence,,, the need for intubation and ICU admission.......
